Cancellation Cloudflare: Easy Method
What is Cloudflare
Cloudflare is a web infrastructure and security company that provides a content delivery network (CDN), DDoS protection, web application firewall (WAF), SSL/TLS, performance optimisation and related services to websites and applications. It operates a tiered set of plans from a free basic offering to paid Pro, Business and Enterprise levels that add features, performance guarantees and support.
How to cancel Cloudflare
- Sign in to the Cloudflare dashboard and go to Billing → Subscriptions. Locate the subscription you want to cancel and follow the on‑screen cancellation flow. Note that cancellations initiated on the web do not take effect immediately - access typically remains until the end of the current billing period (UTC/GMT) and you must cancel before the next scheduled billing to avoid another charge. For details see Cloudflare’s subscription cancellation guide.
- If your subscription was purchased through Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), manage and cancel that subscription through Apple’s or Google’s subscription interfaces respectively; Cloudflare’s site does not provide a public cancellation flow for these platform purchases.
- If Cloudflare continues billing after you cancelled in the dashboard, open a support ticket and retain all evidence of cancellation. If the issue is not resolved, consider escalating in writing - send a registered mail (raccomandata A/R) to Cloudflare’s corporate address to create a receipt-confirmed record of the escalation.
What happens when you cancel
When you cancel a paid Cloudflare subscription through the dashboard, you typically retain the subscription features and access until the end of the current billing term; the cancellation prevents renewal at the next billing date. Cancellation does not usually cause immediate deletion of account data - Cloudflare’s retention and data-handling are governed by its terms and privacy policy. If you purchased through Apple or Google, the platform’s cancellation takes effect according to that platform’s rules and timing.
Will I get a refund?
Cloudflare’s official position is that fees are nonrefundable: you are billed for the full subscription term in which you cancel and Cloudflare does not provide refunds for unused portions as a standard policy. Cloudflare may, at its sole discretion, grant refunds, credits or other adjustments in specific cases, but this is not guaranteed and does not create a right to a refund. For purchases through Apple or Google, refunds or adjustments are typically handled by those platform providers according to their policies.
Cloudflare plans and pricing
| Plan | Price | Period | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | C$0.00 | Monthly | Basic performance, security, free SSL, analytics |
| Pro | C$25 per month (monthly) ≈ C$20/mo if annual | Monthly or Annual | Advanced performance, image optimisation, WAF for personal sites |
| Business | C$250 per month (monthly) ≈ C$200/mo if annual | Monthly or Annual | Advanced DDoS protection, custom WAF rules, prioritized support, custom SSL |
| Enterprise | Custom (contact sales) | Annual | Mission-critical applications, bespoke pricing and SLAs |
Cloudflare lists USD prices on some pages; when you view via the Canadian site final CAD amounts may be converted at the payment processor’s exchange rate at invoice time and applicable taxes may apply. Add‑on services (e.g., Argo, Load Balancing, Access, Stream) are typically priced in USD on the Canada site and convert to CAD at payment.
Your consumer rights in Canada
Cloudflare’s stated “no refunds” policy does not automatically override statutory consumer protections that may apply in Canada. There is no public reference in Cloudflare’s policy to a statutory 14‑day cooling‑off right; however, provincial consumer protection laws (for example Quebec’s rules) and federal regulations can create additional rights depending on the purchase and circumstances. If you believe Cloudflare’s actions conflict with Canadian law, you can raise the issue with your payment provider (chargeback/dispute), contact provincial consumer protection authorities, or seek legal remedies such as small claims. Always document cancellations, notices and billing to support any complaint.
Customer experiences
Many Canadian users praise Cloudflare’s free tier, reporting meaningful performance and security benefits with an easy setup and good CDN value. Paid plan users also cite improved site performance and WAF protection. Conversely, public reviews and forums report recurring problems: excessive CAPTCHA or bot challenges affecting site visitors, slow or limited customer support response, billing glitches where cancellations were not processed promptly, and challenges obtaining refunds. Some users have resolved problems only after escalating via payment disputes or legal threats. These mixed experiences suggest that while the service is effective for many, billing and support issues are common pain points.
Documentation checklist
- Account email and Cloudflare account ID
- Subscription name, plan level and invoice numbers
- Exact timestamps (UTC/GMT) when you submitted the cancellation and screenshots of the dashboard showing cancellation confirmation
- Copies of support tickets, responses, and any on‑site receipts
- Payment receipts or bank/credit card statements showing charges
- If escalating by post, proof of registered mail (tracking and delivery receipt)
Common mistakes
Common errors include assuming cancellation is immediate - if you cancel after the billing date you may still be charged for the next term because Cloudflare bills the full subscription period; failing to cancel in the Cloudflare dashboard when the subscription was purchased there; trying to cancel dashboard subscriptions through Apple/Google (or vice versa) when the platform manages the subscription; neglecting to keep timestamps and screenshots proving you cancelled; and not monitoring subsequent statements for recurring charges. For example, a user who downgraded from Pro to Free but didn’t confirm the dashboard cancellation reported continued billing the following month.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare dashboard cancellation | No (fees are generally nonrefundable; billed for full term) | Low - straightforward to perform; must cancel before next billing |
| Apple App Store / Google Play subscription | Depends - refunds/adjustments handled by Apple/Google per their policies | Medium - use platform subscription management and support forms |
| Escalation by registered mail to Cloudflare | Possible but not guaranteed - creates a receipt trail for disputes | Medium - requires preparing and sending formal documentation and proof of delivery |
| Payment provider chargeback / dispute | Possible for unauthorised charges or billing errors (depends on issuer) | High - needs evidence and may take time; outcomes vary |
After cancelling
After you cancel, monitor your billing statements carefully for any unexpected charges and retain all proof of cancellation. If you need help or a formal record, open a support ticket in Cloudflare’s dashboard and keep copies of the ticket reference and responses. For Cloudflare’s cancellation instructions see Cancel a subscription (Cloudflare developers), and for terms see Cloudflare Terms. If your payment was processed through Apple or Google, consult Apple subscriptions support or Google Play subscriptions help for platform refunds and management. If Cloudflare does not resolve a legitimate billing error, consider contacting your bank or card issuer to dispute the charge and, if necessary, reach out to your provincial consumer protection agency.
