Cancellation Flexiti: Easy Method
What is Flexiti
Flexiti is a Canadian point-of-sale financing provider that issues a financing card and offers deferred or equal-payment plans through participating merchants. It is a credit product (not a subscription app) used to finance purchases; refunds for purchases are handled by the merchant, and financing terms, fees and disclosures are set by Flexiti and the merchant at the time of purchase.
How to cancel Flexiti
- Confirm your cancellation rights in your Cardholder Agreement - many versions allow cancellation by the end of the next business day after signing (and some permit cancellation by the fourth day after receiving the agreement).
- Complete the written cancellation notice provided with your Cardholder Agreement (or prepare a clear written notice stating you cancel the Cardholder Agreement).
- Send the cancellation notice to Flexiti. Use registered mail (raccomandata A/R) to the postal address below for proof of delivery; you may also send by email if you have an official Flexiti email contact. Retain the registered-mail receipt or email delivery confirmation.
- Repay any outstanding balance as required by the agreement - by online banking transfer or by cheque - and keep evidence of payment.
- If you simply want to close your Flexiti account, you may do so at any time through your online portal or by contacting Flexiti customer service; outstanding balances and contractual obligations remain due after account closure.
- To cancel optional services (for example payment-protection insurance), follow the provider’s instructions - these services typically require 30 days’ notice and provide a pro‑rated refund for unused coverage.
What happens when you cancel
Cancellation of the Cardholder Agreement stops the agreement as of the date specified by the contractual cooling‑off rules, but it does not erase any amounts already owed. Closing your account or cancelling optional services will generally stop future charges but you remain responsible for repaying any outstanding financed balance under the original terms.
Flexiti will retain account records as required by law and for account administration; you should get written confirmation of cancellation and keep it with your records. Cancelling the financing does not automatically cancel merchant returns - merchant refunds or credits are handled by the merchant and applied to your Flexiti account if granted.
Will I get a refund?
Flexiti itself generally does not issue refunds for the underlying purchase - refunds, returns and credits are handled by the merchant. If a merchant issues a credit, it will usually be applied to your Flexiti account; note that any interest already paid may not be refundable. For example, Wayfair’s terms state merchant credits apply to your Flexiti account but interest already paid is not refunded. Merchant return policies vary: some merchants (such as electronicsforless.ca) have limited return windows (e.g., 14 days for undamaged items) and may offer exchanges or store credit rather than a cash refund.
Your ability to recover funds or have interest refunded can depend on merchant policy and provincial consumer protections; keep all merchant return receipts and Flexiti account statements when pursuing refunds or credits.
Flexiti plans and pricing
| Plan | Admin fee | Period | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Online - 6-month equal monthly payments (no interest) | C$39.99 | 6 months | No interest; admin fee financed within purchase amount |
| Online - 12-month equal monthly payments (no interest) | C$59.99 | 12 months | No interest; minimum purchase C$1,000 |
| In-store - 6-month deferred payments (no interest) | C$39.99 | 6 months | No payments during promo; interest accrues |
| In-store - 12-month deferred payments (no interest) | C$79.99 | 12 months | No payments during promo; interest accrues |
Notes: Admin fees are typically added to financed purchases (not applicable in Quebec). Annual fees may apply if an account carries a balance (examples: C$24.99 outside Quebec, C$39.99 in Quebec). Some plans require minimum purchases and terms vary by merchant.
Your consumer rights in Canada
Consumer rights for credit and financing vary by province. Several provinces have cooling‑off or cancellation protections for high‑cost or certain consumer credit agreements (for example, British Columbia’s Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act requires clear disclosure and may provide cancellation rights). If required disclosures or procedural rules were not followed when the agreement was made, consumers may have the ability to cancel beyond the standard window.
If you believe your rights were not properly explained or regulatory requirements were not met, contact your provincial consumer protection office or seek legal advice. You can also contact Flexiti for clarification and written confirmation of your rights and any corrective steps.
Customer experiences
Customer experiences reported publicly are mixed. Some consumers report straightforward resolutions - for example one user noted Flexiti provided a C$200 goodwill credit to resolve a Wayfair-related issue. However, many reviews on sites such as Trustpilot and posts on forums report problems including unexpected interest or admin fees, promotional rates changing after missed payments, difficulty obtaining refunds from merchants, poor customer service, and in some cases accounts going to collections despite payments.
Individual outcomes vary by merchant, plan and how promptly disputes and returns are handled. Documenting communications and keeping receipts greatly improves your ability to resolve issues.
Documentation checklist
- Original Cardholder Agreement and any written disclosures
- Completed cancellation notice (or your written cancellation statement)
- Registered‑mail receipt (raccomandata A/R) or email delivery confirmation to Flexiti
- Account statements showing balances, payments and any credits
- Purchase receipt and merchant return/credit confirmation
- Proof of payment for any outstanding balance (online banking confirmation or cheque copy)
- Copies of all correspondence with Flexiti and the merchant (emails, chat logs, notes of phone calls)
- Identification used for the account (if requested)
Common mistakes
Common errors include missing the narrow cancellation window (for example not delivering notice by the end of the next business day or within the version-specific deadline), failing to send the notice by registered mail or failing to keep proof of delivery, and assuming Flexiti will issue a merchant refund. Other frequent problems are not repaying any required outstanding balance promptly (which can lead to late fees or collections) and not cancelling optional insurance or add‑on services that continue to bill without proper notice.
Always read the Cardholder Agreement terms closely at signing and keep copies of every communication and proof of delivery or payment to avoid these mistakes.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Cancel Cardholder Agreement within cooling‑off period | No merchant purchase refund - cancels financing obligations per agreement; outstanding balance must be repaid as required | Low to Medium (strict deadlines, requires proof of delivery) |
| Close account via portal or customer service | No direct refund; remaining balance still due; future charges stop | Low (online or phone) |
| Return item to merchant / request refund | Refund/credit issued by merchant; credit applied to Flexiti account; interest already paid may not be returned | Medium to High (depends on merchant policy) |
| Cancel optional services (e.g., payment protection) | Pro‑rated refund for unused coverage (typically after 30 days’ notice) | Low (requires written notice and proof) |
After cancelling
After you send a cancellation notice, watch your Flexiti account statements and your merchant communications for confirmations or credits. Keep all documentation and follow up promptly if you do not receive confirmation. If a merchant refund is due but not applied, contact the merchant first; if the merchant does not cooperate, escalate to Flexiti with your proof, and consider contacting your provincial consumer protection office or a financial ombudsman for assistance.
