Cancellation Rebtel: Easy Method
What is Rebtel
Rebtel is a VoIP and international-calling service that offers subscription plans (country and global unlimited) and pay-as-you-go credit bundles for calling and top-ups. It is available via web and mobile apps and charges recurring monthly fees for subscriptions unless cancelled.
How to cancel Rebtel
- Log in to your Rebtel account (web or app), open Account > Subscriptions (or Payments) and use the Cancel subscription option - subscriptions renew every 30 days and can be cancelled at any time.
- Do not rely on uninstalling the app to stop charges; uninstalling does not cancel subscriptions. If you wish, remove saved card details or delete your account after cancelling.
- If you purchased the subscription via the Apple App Store, cancel or request a refund through Apple (in-app purchases are handled by the store).
- To create a written record send an email to support@rebtel.com or send a registered postal notice (“raccomandata A/R”) to Rebtel’s corporate address (see Address section).
What happens when you cancel
After cancellation your subscription will stop renewing at the end of the current billing period but you typically retain access until that period ends. Recurring billing will cease once cancellation is confirmed. Rebtel may retain account and billing data per its terms; if you want all personal details removed, request account deletion after cancelling. If you cancelled via an app store, your access and billing are governed by that store’s policy.
Will I get a refund?
Refunds depend on what you bought and timing. Unused Rebtel Credits can be refunded if requested within 90 days of purchase and the credits remain unused. Subscriptions are generally non-refundable unless unused and the request is made within 90 days. Intro deals, welcome offers, minute buckets, vouchers and gift tokens are not refundable. All refund requests should be submitted in writing (for example to support@rebtel.com) within 90 days; after that Rebtel’s policy treats payments as final. If you bought inside the Apple App Store, refunds and cancellations for that transaction must be handled through Apple.
Rebtel plans and pricing
| Plan | Price | Period | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canada Unlimited | C$2/month (billed in USD but equivalent) | Monthly | Unlimited calls to any phone in Canada |
| Global Unlimited | C$12/month (approximate equivalent) | Monthly | Unlimited calls to landlines and mobiles in 50 countries including Canada |
| Rebtel Credits - 500 minutes | C$5 | One-time | Pay-as-you-go: ~1.0¢/min to mobiles and landlines across Canada |
| Rebtel Credits - 2 500 minutes | C$25 | One-time | Pay-as-you-go: ~1.0¢/min to mobiles and landlines across Canada |
Prices are shown in USD on Rebtel’s site but will be charged in equivalent CAD for Canadian customers; taxes (GST/HST/PST) may apply depending on your province.
Your consumer rights in Canada
Canadian consumer-protection laws require clear disclosure of auto-renewal and cancellation processes for digital subscriptions. Provincial rules vary: some provinces provide statutory cooling-off periods or additional refund rights (for example, Quebec has a 14-day right in some circumstances). These statutory rights can supplement Rebtel’s internal 90-day refund policy - if you believe a provincial consumer-protection rule gives you additional rights, consider citing it when you contact Rebtel or seek local consumer-protection advice.
Customer experiences
Users commonly praise Rebtel for ease of use, low cost and good international call quality, plus useful extras like mobile top-ups and remittances. Negative reports on public review sites mention unexpected or unauthorized charges (often around auto-renewals), difficulties obtaining timely customer support, trouble securing refunds or invoices, and occasional call-connection problems. These experiences suggest keeping documentation and monitoring billing closely.
Documentation checklist
- Account email and username; order or subscription ID(s)
- Receipt(s) or bank/credit-card statement showing the charge(s)
- Screenshots of subscription status in the Rebtel app/account and cancellation confirmation (if available)
- Copy of any written request sent to support@rebtel.com and tracking/return receipt if you send registered mail (“raccomandata A/R”)
- Dates of purchase and attempted cancellation (within 90 days if requesting a refund)
Common mistakes
Customers often assume uninstalling the app cancels subscriptions - it does not; you must cancel inside your Rebtel account or via the app store. Another frequent error is waiting past the 90-day window to request refunds or failing to keep proof of payment and cancellation attempts. Users also sometimes try to get refunds for in-app purchases through Rebtel instead of the store that processed the payment (for Apple App Store purchases you must contact Apple). Finally, cancelling at the last minute without saving confirmation can make disputes harder to resolve.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Cancel in your Rebtel account (web or app) | Refund possible only if unused and requested within 90 days; otherwise no guarantee | Easy |
| Cancel / refund via Apple App Store (in-app purchase) | Refunds handled by Apple under its policy; contact Apple for decisions | Medium (depends on Apple) |
| Send written notice by email or registered mail to Rebtel | Creates documented request for refund; same 90-day limits apply for Rebtel refunds | Low - Medium (registered mail provides strongest proof) |
After cancelling
After you cancel, keep cancellation confirmations, receipts and any support correspondence. If you need to request a refund, submit it in writing within 90 days to support@rebtel.com and include the documentation from the checklist. If your charge came through Apple, use Apple’s refund request process.
