Cancellation Simply Guitar: Easy Method
What is Simply Guitar
Simply Guitar is a mobile app and web-based subscription service from JoyTunes designed to teach beginners and early-intermediate players guitar through guided lessons, song-based practice and automatic audio detection. It pairs interactive lessons with feedback and progress tracking to help users build basic chords, strumming and timing skills.
How to cancel Simply Guitar
- App Store (iOS): Open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Simply Guitar → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Google Play (Android): In the Google Play app tap your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Simply Guitar → Cancel subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Web account: Log in at your Simply Guitar account, open Manage My Subscription in the member sidebar and cancel - the cancellation is effective at the end of the billing period. See SimplyGuitar.com.
- Direct credit/debit card purchases: Cancel by contacting support via the app or email guitar@hellosimply.com. See support article.
- PayPal purchases: Log in to PayPal → Profile (gear) → Pre-approved payments → select JoyTunes or Simply by JoyTunes → Cancel the pre-approved payment. See support article.
What happens when you cancel
Cancellations generally stop automatic renewal but keep your access active until the end of the current billing period; you will not be billed again after that date. Your account and progress are typically retained so you can sign back in or resubscribe later, though specific data-retention policies are governed by JoyTunes’ account terms and privacy policy. If you purchased through a third party (Apple, Google, PayPal), billing and refund handling are processed by that provider.
Will I get a refund?
Simply Guitar’s web terms state that subscription fees are non-refundable when purchased via the web and that they do not offer refunds for web purchases; cancelling stops future billing but access continues until the paid period ends. For purchases made through platform providers the refund paths differ: Apple users must request refunds through Apple’s problem reports page (Apple’s window is commonly 30 - 60 days); Google Play purchases are eligible for a full refund through Google’s flow within 30 days. If you paid by credit/debit card or PayPal, you may be eligible for a full refund within 30 days by contacting Simply Guitar support via the app or email. Refunds, when approved, typically appear in 5 - 10 business days but can vary due to banks or third-party processors. For the company policy on web refunds see SimplyGuitar refund page and the terms.

Your consumer rights in Canada
Canadian consumer protections vary by province. Ontario provides a 10-day cooling-off period for certain contracts such as personal development services, but digital subscription services may be exempt unless specifically covered. Federal and provincial distance-selling rules can provide a 14-day cooling-off right for some online purchases, though exemptions for digital subscriptions often apply. Simply Guitar’s published terms do not voluntarily offer a general cooling-off period in Canada. If you believe a mandatory consumer right has been waived improperly or your rights have been infringed, you can contact provincial authorities such as the Ontario Ministry of Government and Consumer Services for guidance. Relevant overviews include summaries on Ontario consumer protections and distance-selling rules; applicability depends on the exact purchase type and jurisdiction.
Customer experiences
User feedback is mixed. Many beginners report that Simply Guitar is well-structured, engaging and helpful for learning basic chords and making rapid early progress when used consistently; built-in tools such as the tuner and song-based lessons receive positive mention. Criticisms include occasional audio recognition inaccuracies, UI frustrations, limited progression for more advanced techniques, and concerns about subscription value compared with free resources. As with most learning apps, results depend heavily on frequency of practice and how users combine the app with other learning materials.
Documentation checklist
- Account email and username used for the subscription
- Proof of purchase or receipt (App Store/Google Play/PayPal/credit card statement)
- Subscription confirmation or invoice number, if available
- Device type (iOS/Android) and Apple ID or Google account used
- Screenshots of subscription status or payment charges (optional but helpful)
Common mistakes
Common mistakes include cancelling in the wrong place (for example cancelling the app but not the subscription in the App Store or Google Play under the correct account), expecting an automatic refund after cancelling (cancellation typically only prevents future billing and does not guarantee a refund), and assuming access will end immediately (access usually continues until the end of the paid period). Another frequent error is failing to cancel a pre-approved PayPal payment separately after cancelling within the app or web account. Double-check which account or payment method was used to subscribe before you cancel.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| App Store (iOS) | Request refund from Apple via Apple’s problem reports page (Apple handles refunds; window commonly 30 - 60 days) | Medium |
| Google Play (Android) | Eligible for full refund via Google Play within 30 days (use Google’s refund request flow) | Easy |
| Web account | Web subscriptions are generally non-refundable; canceling stops future billing but access remains until period end | Easy |
| Credit/Debit card or PayPal (direct) | Contact Simply Guitar support within 30 days for a possible full refund; processed by JoyTunes if approved | Medium |
After cancelling
After you cancel, keep a copy of any confirmation screen or email showing the cancellation and the date your access ends. If you need a refund or did not receive confirmation, contact Simply Guitar support via the app or by emailing guitar@hellosimply.com. For platform-specific refund requests use Apple’s problem reports page for App Store purchases or Google Play’s refund process for Android purchases; instructions and support articles are available from Simply Guitar’s help site. If you believe your statutory consumer rights in Canada apply and are not being honored, contact your provincial consumer protection office for assistance.
