Cancellation Tunecore: Easy Method
What is Tunecore
TuneCore is a digital music distribution and publishing service that lets artists upload, distribute and monetize music across major streaming platforms and online stores worldwide. It provides account dashboards, analytics, release management tools and optional subscription plans for ongoing distribution of multiple releases.
How to cancel Tunecore
- Web (dashboard) - cancel a release or stop renewals: Log in to your TuneCore dashboard, go to Manage Subscriptions or your Releases list, choose the release you want to act on and click either "Cancel Renewal" (stops future renewals but does not remove the release instantly) or "Takedown All Stores" (removes the release from stores immediately). Submit before the renewal date to avoid a new charge. Note that takedown and cancellation processing can take from 2 - 3 business days up to several weeks.
- Unlimited Plan (web account): Sign in, go to Account Settings → Subscriptions and click "Cancel Subscription". Cancelling ends the plan at the end of the current billing period (there is no extra paid grace period once you cancel); if you do not cancel, TuneCore’s reminders and takedown schedule described below will apply after a missed renewal.
- App Store / Google Play purchases: TuneCore’s Canadian Help Center does not document App Store/Google Play cancellation procedures; official cancellation and refund actions for subscriptions bought through those stores are typically handled via Apple or Google account subscription management rather than via the TuneCore dashboard.
What happens when you cancel
If you choose "Cancel Renewal," future automatic renewals are stopped but your release generally remains live until its current paid period expires; it is not removed immediately. If you choose "Takedown All Stores," TuneCore will submit takedown requests to stores and streaming services and removal can take from a few business days to several weeks depending on the store.
For Unlimited plans, cancelling via Account Settings causes the plan to end at the end of the paid period; your releases will be removed when the account no longer has a valid plan or credit to cover renewals. If a renewal is missed and the account is not paid, TuneCore sends reminder emails every seven days for 35 days after renewal warning that releases will be taken down; after approximately 42 days the account may be downgraded and releases removed.
Will I get a refund?
TuneCore’s stated position is that "all sales are final." If a renewal charge has already posted to your account, cancelling afterward does not typically produce a refund. Physical product returns (if applicable) must be requested in writing within 14 days of delivery and are subject to inspection and TuneCore’s discretion for refund or replacement. Always check the Terms & Conditions for the precise refund language that applied at the time of your purchase.

Your consumer rights in Canada
Canadian consumer protection law can provide cooling-off periods and protections for certain distance sales, but many music distribution arrangements are treated as business-to-business or professional services and do not automatically carry a 14‑day statutory cancellation right. TuneCore’s explicit "all sales are final" policy means refunds are generally not provided for digital distribution or renewals. For physical goods, Canadian law expects sellers to accept returns of defective items within a reasonable time; TuneCore’s stated return window for physical products is 14 days and refunds or replacements for defects are handled at their discretion consistent with standard consumer protections.
Customer experiences
User feedback is mixed. Positive reports highlight TuneCore’s straightforward upload process, simplicity for beginners, useful analytics and professional customer service experiences. Negative feedback commonly centres on difficulty cancelling subscriptions or removing payment methods, frustrations with automated or impersonal support, delays in releases reaching stores, and complaints about the "no refunds / all sales are final" policy when users miss renewals or experience account issues. Some users specifically describe confusion between "Cancel Renewal" and "Takedown" behavior and frustration when music is removed after missed renewals.
Documentation checklist
- Account email and username, release IDs / UPCs / ISRCs for the releases you want to cancel or takedown
- Screenshot or PDF of billing/renewal date and payment receipts showing charges you dispute
- Copies of any support emails or chat transcripts confirming cancellation attempts
- Order confirmation emails and Terms & Conditions version in effect at purchase
- For postal requests, a written cancellation/takedown letter and proof of registered mailing (recommended: raccomandata A/R)
Common mistakes
Users commonly miss the renewal date and assume cancelling after the charge will generate a refund; TuneCore’s policy generally prevents that. Confusing "Cancel Renewal" with "Takedown All Stores" can leave music live longer than expected or immediately remove it when a user intended only to stop future billing. Buying via the App Store or Google Play and expecting to manage the subscription solely through TuneCore can lead to errors; such store purchases are often controlled through Apple/Google subscription settings. Failing to export your audio, artwork and metadata before takedown or account expiry can make later retrieval more difficult and potentially costly (media export fees apply).
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Web - Cancel Renewal | No refund if renewal already charged | Low to Medium |
| Web - Takedown All Stores | No refund if renewal already charged | Low (immediate removal request; processing time varies) |
| Unlimited Plan - Cancel via Account Settings | No refund for charges already processed | Medium (plan ends at expiry; users report some confusion) |
| App Store / Google Play purchases | Refunds handled by Apple/Google policies, not TuneCore | Varies (depends on store procedures) |
After cancelling
After you cancel, confirm the change in your TuneCore dashboard and keep copies of cancellation confirmations. If you need to export audio, artwork or metadata, request media export promptly (fees may apply). For help, consult TuneCore’s support pages and Terms & Conditions; you can contact TuneCore support through their help centre or submit a ticket for account-specific questions.
