Cancellation Yousician: Easy Method
What is Yousician
Yousician is a subscription-based app and web service that teaches musical instruments (guitar, piano, ukulele, voice, bass, and more) through interactive lessons, song-based exercises and gamified feedback. It combines a library of songs, adjustable practice tools and structured lessons aimed at beginners through intermediate players.
How to cancel Yousician
- Apple App Store: If you subscribed through Apple, cancel directly through Apple (e.g., on iPhone/iPad go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or manage subscriptions via the App Store app on Mac). See Yousician's cancellation guidance: How to cancel your Yousician subscription.
- Google Play: If you subscribed via Google Play, cancel through the Play Store (Subscriptions section in the Play Store app) or on a computer at subscriptions.google.com. See Yousician's instructions: How to cancel your Yousician subscription.
- Yousician website (web purchase): If you purchased via Yousician's website, log in, go to your Payment method or Membership area and select “Cancel subscription” to confirm. See: How to cancel your Yousician subscription.
- If you cannot cancel through the store or website, you may send a written cancellation notice (recommended by registered mail for proof) to Yousician Ltd., Siltasaarenkatu 16, 00530 Helsinki, Finland. Keep postal proof of delivery.
- Important: uninstalling the app or deleting your Yousician account does not automatically cancel a subscription billed through Apple, Google Play or your payment provider - use the correct cancellation route above.
What happens when you cancel
When you cancel, auto-renewal is stopped but you retain premium access for the remainder of the paid period (for example, if you cancel mid-month you will still have access until the next renewal date). Cancelling prevents future charges but does not automatically erase your Yousician account or the practice history unless you explicitly delete the account. If you cancel through an app store, billing and refund handling remains subject to that store's processes.
Will I get a refund?
Refund eligibility depends on where you were billed. For direct web purchases billed by Yousician, you may request a full refund within 14 days (the “Cooling-off Period”) provided you have not accessed the paid content during that period; see Yousician's refund policy: Refund policy. If you were billed via Apple App Store, you must request refunds through Apple (use Apple's “Report a Problem” tool or contact Apple Support). If you were billed by Google Play, request a refund through Google Play if under 48 hours; if more than 48 hours but under 14 days, contact Yousician Support for assistance - Google’s policies and discretion apply. Yousician’s Terms of Service state payments are generally final except as allowed under the 14-day Withdrawal Period and related conditions: Payment terms.
Yousician plans and pricing
| Plan | Price | Period | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium+ Annual (via Android/Google Play) | CA$149.99 | Yearly | Premium+ (unlimited access to all instruments, songs) |
| Personal Annual (via Website) | CA$74.99 | Yearly | Single-user access |
| Family Annual (via Website) | CA$109.99 | Yearly | Family plan up to 4 accounts |
Your consumer rights in Canada
Under Canadian federal and provincial consumer protection frameworks, digital subscriptions commonly carry a limited cooling-off or withdrawal right for services not yet accessed; specifics vary by province. Yousician’s 14-day refund policy for direct web purchases aligns with these expectations when the paid content has not been accessed. For purchases made through Apple or Google Play in Canada, consumers must follow the app stores’ refund and dispute processes; those intermediary policies are the practical route for refunds on store-billed transactions. Canadian rules also require clear disclosure for automatic renewals and reasonable access to cancellation; if you believe an automatic renewal was not properly disclosed, keep documentation and consider raising the matter with your provincial consumer protection office in addition to pursuing the store or Yousician support avenues.
Customer experiences
Many users praise Yousician’s user-friendly interface, gamified lessons, adjustable tempo/looping features and broad song library, and often describe customer support as responsive and helpful. At the same time, some customers report issues with unexpected auto-renewals, charges after cancelling a trial, difficulties obtaining refunds or confusing billing communications, and occasional removal of favorite songs without notice. These mixed experiences underline the importance of confirming your subscription source, keeping receipts, and documenting cancellation attempts.
Documentation checklist
- Receipt or proof of purchase (store receipt, email confirmation)
- Account email or username used for Yousician
- Subscription source (Apple App Store, Google Play, or Yousician web)
- Transaction ID(s) and billing dates
- Screenshots of subscription status, cancellation confirmations, or in-app settings
- Copies of emails or chat transcripts with support
- If you send registered mail: postal receipt and proof of delivery
Common mistakes
Common errors include uninstalling the app or deleting the account but not cancelling the subscription through the billing provider, cancelling the wrong platform (for example cancelling in-app but the subscription is billed via Apple), missing or not saving confirmation of cancellation, and assuming refunds are automatic after cancellation. Example: a user deletes the app on iPhone thinking the subscription is cancelled, but the App Store subscription remains active and continues to renew because cancellation was not completed under Apple subscriptions.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Web purchase (billed by Yousician) | Possible full refund within 14 days if content not accessed | Medium - request via Yousician Support, provide documentation |
| Apple App Store | Request via Apple’s “Report a Problem” or Apple Support; Apple decides | Medium - must follow Apple procedures |
| Google Play | Best chance for refund within 48 hours via Google Play; if 48h - 14d contact Yousician Support | Medium - Google’s policy and timing affect outcome |
| Registered mail (written cancellation to Yousician) | No guaranteed refund - stops renewal if processed but refund depends on billing method and policy | Varies - provides strong proof of cancellation but may require follow-up |
After cancelling
After you cancel, confirm you received a cancellation confirmation (screenshot, email or store confirmation). Expect to retain access until the end of the paid period and monitor your bank or card statements to ensure no further charges occur. If you are charged after cancellation, contact the billing platform first (Apple/Google) or Yousician Support for web purchases, providing your documentation.
