Cancellation One Medical: Easy Method
What is One Medical
One Medical is a membership-based primary care service that offers on-demand virtual care, same-day urgent video visits, and in-person appointments at its clinics. Membership gives access to booked and virtual care services; however, most individual visits and procedures may be billed separately from the membership fee.
How to cancel One Medical
- Cancel via your One Medical account (web or app): sign in, go to Account Settings and choose "Cancel Membership." Members not in a DPC program keep access until the end of their current term; no prorated refund is provided. For details see the One Medical membership terms: One Medical membership terms.
- If you are in a Direct Primary Care (DPC) program, email pm-membermgt@onemedical.com to request cancellation.
- If you purchased your membership through Amazon, cancel through your Amazon account/subscriptions per Amazon’s process (refunds and processing follow Amazon’s policies).
- If you subscribed through Apple (iOS), cancel in the iPhone App Store under your subscriptions settings; Apple controls subscription billing and refund decisions for App Store purchases. See a guide: How to cancel (iOS).
- If you subscribed through Google Play (Android), cancel in the Play Store subscriptions screen; Google controls Play Store billing and refund decisions. See a guide: How to cancel (Android).
What happens when you cancel
When you cancel directly via your One Medical account (for non-DPC members) you will typically retain membership access through the end of your current billing term; the membership will not renew after that term. One Medical’s membership and billing terms state that cancelling does not produce a prorated refund for the unused portion of a term. Your medical record and clinical data remain subject to One Medical’s privacy and records policies and to applicable law; if you want a copy of records or need continued access to documents, request those before or shortly after cancellation per One Medical’s instructions.
Will I get a refund?
One Medical’s published terms state that they do not provide prorated refunds of the membership fee if you cancel before the end of your term. The main exception is if One Medical terminates your access other than for breach - in that case they state you would be entitled to a pro‑rata refund for the remainder of the period. Subscriptions purchased through Apple or Google remain subject to each platform’s refund policies and processes, and Amazon-purchased memberships follow Amazon’s purchase/refund policies. There is no explicit Canadian 14‑day cooling‑off right shown in One Medical’s terms; provincial consumer protection laws may offer additional remedies in some situations, but those are jurisdiction-dependent and not guaranteed by One Medical’s published terms (membership terms).
One Medical plans and pricing
| Plan | Price (approx. CAD) | Period | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Membership | ≈ C$270/year or ≈ C$22.50/month | Annual (monthly equivalent) | 24/7 virtual care, Treat Me Now, urgent video chat; visits billed separately |
| Prime Member Discount (First Member) | ≈ C$135/year or ≈ C$12/month | Annual (monthly) | Same benefits at a discounted rate for Amazon Prime members |
| Additional Family Member (via Prime) | ≈ C$90/year or ≈ C$8/month | Annual (monthly) | Same benefits for each additional family member (limits may apply) |
Your consumer rights in Canada
One Medical’s terms do not explicitly provide a Canadian 14‑day cooling‑off right. Canadian consumer protection laws and provincial unfair practices statutes may offer certain rights (for example, rights related to misleading practices or unwanted charges), but the availability and scope of those rights depends on the province or territory and the facts of the case. For subscriptions bought through Apple, Google, or Amazon, you may also have consumer-facing processes with those platforms for refunds or disputes. If you believe a charge violates provincial consumer protection rules, contact your provincial consumer protection office or seek independent legal advice for specifics.
Customer experiences
Reviews are mixed. Some Canadian users and others have praised One Medical’s prior in-person service quality and found referrals and access to primary care helpful. However, after the Amazon acquisition many reviewers on Trustpilot, the BBB, and forums like Reddit reported issues including surprise or high billing for visits, long waits for appointments, reduced availability, and difficulty or delays in customer support and cancellation. Use documented confirmations and payment records to support any dispute.
Documentation checklist
- Account email/username and membership start date
- Proof of payment (credit card transaction, Amazon receipt, App Store/Google Play receipt)
- Screenshot or PDF of your cancellation confirmation (if available)
- Copies of any billing notices or disputed invoices
- Correspondence with One Medical or the platform (emails, chat transcripts)
Common mistakes
Common errors include cancelling the wrong subscription (for example cancelling an Apple/Google subscription but not the One Medical account, or vice versa), assuming you will receive a prorated refund after cancelling, and not saving a written confirmation of cancellation. Other mistakes are not checking whether the membership was purchased through Amazon (which requires Amazon-side cancellation) and not contacting the DPC member management email for DPC-specific arrangements.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Web / One Medical app (direct) | No prorated refund if you cancel early; pro‑rata refund only if One Medical terminates access (non‑breach) | Generally straightforward via account settings, though some users report support delays |
| Amazon-purchased membership | Refunds and cancellations follow Amazon’s policies (handled by Amazon) | Medium - must use Amazon account/subscriptions |
| App Store (iOS) | Refund decisions by Apple per App Store policy; cancel via iPhone subscriptions | Depends on Apple’s process; cancelling subscription is usually simple, refund less certain |
| Google Play (Android) | Refund decisions by Google per Play Store policy; cancel via Play Store subscriptions | Depends on Google’s process; cancelling subscription is usually simple, refund less certain |
After cancelling
After you cancel, keep copies of confirmation screens, emails, and billing statements. If you want to dispute a charge, raise the issue promptly with One Medical and the payment provider (bank, credit card, Apple, Google, or Amazon). Useful references: One Medical membership terms (membership terms) and general cancellation guides such as DonotPay: How to cancel One Medical. If charges persist after cancellation, contact your bank or card issuer to dispute recurring charges and consider contacting your provincial consumer protection office if you suspect unfair or deceptive practices.
