Important warning regarding service limitations

Postclic is an independent third-party service, with no affiliation, partnership, or representation link with the brand Ko-Fi. The use of the brand name is strictly for reference and descriptive purposes, in order to identify the mail recipient. Postclic exclusively offers a mail drafting assistance service and a certified, timestamped, and tracked digital mail sending service. If your subscription was purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the cancellation must be done directly with those platforms.

In the interest of transparency and prevention, it is essential to recall the inherent limitations of any dematerialized sending service, even when timestamped, tracked and certified. Guarantees relate to sending and technical proof, but never to the recipient's behavior, diligence or decisions.

Please note, Postclic cannot:

  • guarantee that the recipient receives, opens or becomes aware of your e-mail.
  • guarantee that the recipient processes, accepts or executes your request.
  • guarantee the accuracy or completeness of content written by the user.
  • guarantee the validity of an incorrect or outdated address.
  • prevent the recipient from contesting the legal scope of the mail.

Cancellation Ko-Fi: Easy Method

What is Ko-Fi

Ko‑Fi is an online platform that lets creators receive one‑off donations, sell items or commissions, and offer paid memberships. It connects supporters and creators using payment providers like PayPal and Stripe, while creators set their own refund and membership terms.

How to cancel Ko‑Fi

Below are the main ways subscriptions and memberships can be cancelled depending on how they were started and who manages the subscription.

  • Supporter cancellation via Ko‑Fi account: Sign in, go to Account & BillingSubscriptions, click the three dots next to the subscription and choose “Don’t Renew.” For steps see Ko‑Fi help (How to cancel a membership).
  • Supporter cancellation via PayPal: If the subscription was started through PayPal you can also cancel from your PayPal settings under automatic payments. See Ko‑Fi help (PayPal guidance).
  • Creator cancellation: Creators can cancel a supporter’s membership from the Members tab in their Ko‑Fi dashboard - select the member, click the three dots and choose “Cancel.” The supporter’s access typically continues until the end of the current billing period. See Ko‑Fi help (Memberships & Tiers).
  • App Store / Google Play subscriptions: Subscriptions started through Apple or Google must be cancelled through the respective platform (App Store or Play Store). Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. General guidance on cancelling store subscriptions: app store cancellation guidance.

What happens when you cancel

When you cancel a membership or subscription on Ko‑Fi the subscription will typically stop renewing at the next billing date. Supporters usually retain access to any paid membership benefits until the end of the current billing period; the same applies when creators cancel a supporter’s membership. Cancelling prevents future charges but does not automatically remove historical transaction records from Ko‑Fi.

Ko‑Fi is not the merchant of record for creator payments in many cases, so account data, transaction receipts and membership records are maintained according to Ko‑Fi’s and the creator’s policies. Deleting the Ko‑Fi app or your account does not guarantee automatic cancellation of platform or store‑based subscriptions unless you follow the proper cancellation steps.

Will I get a refund?

Ko‑Fi itself does not issue refunds on behalf of creators; refunds must be arranged directly between the supporter and the creator. Creators can issue full refunds (not partial) via Ko‑Fi within 180 days of the payment using the “Refund” option in My Supporters or Payments & Orders. For details see How to issue a refund and How can a supporter get a refund?.

Timing depends on the payment processor: PayPal refunds are usually immediate, while Stripe refunds can take about 5 - 10 business days to appear. If a creator does not respond or will not refund, supporters can open a dispute with their payment provider (PayPal or their card issuer); disputes are generally available up to about 180 days after the original payment. Note that there is no standard 14‑day cooling‑off period provided by Ko‑Fi - refund rights depend on the creator’s policy and applicable law, and donations are generally final.

Ko‑Fi plans and pricing

Plan Price Period Features
Free USD 0/month (no CAD version) Monthly 0 - 5% service fee (0% on tips, 5% on memberships/shop/commissions)
Gold USD 12/month (no CAD version) Monthly 0% service fee on all transactions

Your consumer rights in Canada

If you’re in Canada you do not automatically receive a 14‑day cooling‑off right through Ko‑Fi: Ko‑Fi generally acts as a platform and creators set their own refund policies, so statutory cancellation periods or consumer protections may not apply in the same way as purchases from a merchant of record. Digital content is typically delivered immediately and creators may specify their own terms under Ko‑Fi’s agreements.

You still have the option to dispute charges via your payment provider (credit card or PayPal) if you cannot resolve the issue with the creator. Dispute processes and time limits (commonly around 180 days) are set by the payment provider and applicable local laws, not Ko‑Fi.

Customer experiences

Many users report positive experiences with Ko‑Fi’s ease of use and responsive customer service, praising the platform’s interface and the speed of problem resolution in a number of Trustpilot reviews. There are also reported successes reclaiming lost accounts or updating account details with Ko‑Fi support.

At the same time, there are negative reports: delayed or closed support tickets, unexplained donor unsubscriptions or Stripe disconnections that disrupted creator revenue, and concerns about disputed micropayments creating holds on accounts via PayPal. These mixed experiences suggest that while many issues are resolved smoothly, some users have had longer delays or operational problems.

Documentation checklist

  • Account email and username on Ko‑Fi
  • Subscription or membership ID (from your Ko‑Fi Subscriptions page)
  • Payment transaction ID (PayPal/Stripe/credit card)
  • Date and amount of the charge
  • Screenshots of the subscription, receipts, or billing entries
  • Any communication with the creator or Ko‑Fi support (timestamps/messages)
  • Links to Ko‑Fi help articles you used: cancel membership, refunds

Common mistakes

Common errors include assuming deleting the app cancels a subscription - this does not stop renewals from the App Store or Play Store; cancelling only in the app may leave the store‑side subscription active. Another frequent mistake is expecting Ko‑Fi to process refunds automatically: Ko‑Fi does not issue refunds on a supporter’s behalf unless the creator uses Ko‑Fi’s refund option. Supporters who contact creators without transaction details can slow the process - always provide transaction IDs and screenshots when requesting cancellations or refunds.

Comparative recap

Method Refund Difficulty
Cancel via Ko‑Fi Account (Account & Billing → Subscriptions) Cancellation only; refunds must be requested from the creator (creator may refund via Ko‑Fi within 180 days) Easy
Cancel via PayPal automatic payments Cancellation only; refunds depend on creator or PayPal dispute if unresolved Easy - Medium
Creator cancels via Members tab Cancellation only; creator may still issue refunds via Ko‑Fi (full refunds within 180 days) Easy (for creators)
Cancel via App Store / Google Play Cancellation only; refunds handled by store policies or creator - deleting the app does not refund Medium

After cancelling

After you cancel, verify that future billing has stopped by checking your Ko‑Fi Subscriptions page and your payment provider (PayPal, credit card statement, App Store or Play Store subscriptions). If you need a refund, contact the creator first and provide the documentation checklist items above. If the creator does not respond or refuses an agreed refund, open a dispute with your payment provider and provide your transaction evidence.
