Cancellation Pattern: Easy Method
What is Pattern
The Pattern app is a personal insights and astrology-based subscription service that offers free and paid content through mobile apps and web accounts. It operates subscriptions through platform stores (Apple App Store, Google Play) and directly via its website, and its Terms of Service govern cancellations, refunds, and account handling.
How to cancel Pattern
- iOS (App Store): Open Settings → tap your name (Apple ID) → Subscriptions → select The Pattern → Cancel Subscription. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. Any refund requests must be handled through Apple. See The Pattern's Terms of Service and Apple support for details.
- Android (Google Play): Open the Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions → select The Pattern → Cancel Subscription. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. Refunds must be requested from Google. See The Pattern's Terms of Service and Google Play help for refunds.
- Web or direct purchases: Sign in at The Pattern website, go to your account or subscription settings (or the pricing/subscription page) and follow the service's cancellation controls. Deleting your account or the app does not automatically cancel a paid subscription; cancel inside the subscription controls to stop renewal.
What happens when you cancel
When you cancel a paid subscription, auto-renewal stops at the end of the current billing period and you generally retain access until that period ends. Cancellation usually prevents future charges but does not necessarily delete your account data; your profile, preferences, and saved content may remain unless you separately request account deletion. Deleting the app from your device does not cancel an active subscription.
Will I get a refund?
Refunds depend on how you purchased the subscription and your local consumer rights. For purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, The Pattern directs refund requests to Apple or Google and does not issue those refunds itself. European Union / EEA users have a statutory right to a full refund within 14 days of the subscription start under local law. For purchases made directly on The Pattern website, there is no general company-wide refund policy stated in the Terms of Service for Canada; refunds may only be available if The Pattern's own policy or applicable local consumer law provides one.
Pattern plans and pricing
| Plan | Price | Billing | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Free | n/a | Limited features at no cost. |
| Premium / Subscription | Varies | Monthly or yearly (platform-dependent) | Paid content and additional features; pricing depends on platform and region. |
| Web / Direct Purchase | Varies | Depends on chosen plan | Manageable from your web account subscription settings. |
Your consumer rights in Canada
Canada has no single federal law granting a general right to return or refund for online digital subscriptions; merchants set their own refund and return policies and must honour them when offered. Quebec provides stronger protections for online purchases: if required information was missing or unclear at the time of sale, consumers may have a 7-day cancellation right for some online purchases, and merchants must refund within 15 days and cover return shipping when that right applies. For provincial specifics, consult local consumer protection resources.
Customer experiences
User feedback is mixed. Some reviewers praise The Pattern for helpful, accurate insights and professional service interactions. Other users report frustration with changes to features, paywalling of content, cancellation or refund difficulties, or problems unrelated to the app's subscription model (for example, product delivery issues tied to other business lines). Reviews vary by platform and service area, so experiences can differ depending on how and where you purchased or interact with the service.
Documentation checklist
- Account email and username used for The Pattern.
- Receipt or invoice for the subscription (Apple receipt, Google Play receipt, or web order confirmation).
- Subscription ID or transaction ID (from store receipts or web account).
- Screenshots showing active subscription, billing dates, and any cancellation confirmation screens.
- Record of any communications with The Pattern support, Apple, or Google (dates and content).
- If invoking Quebec or EU rights, any written notice or evidence supporting the statutory claim.
Common mistakes
People commonly assume deleting the app cancels the subscription; it does not. Others cancel on the wrong account (for example, a secondary Apple ID or Google account), fail to keep receipts or transaction IDs, or miss the window for region-specific rights (such as the EU 14-day period). Another frequent error is contacting The Pattern for an App Store or Google Play refund instead of using the platform's refund process - those platforms generally control refunds for purchases made through them.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Apple App Store (iOS) | Refunds handled by Apple; request via Apple support or Report a Problem. | Medium |
| Google Play Store (Android) | Refunds handled by Google Play; request via Play Store > Order History or Google support. | Medium |
| Direct / Web purchase | The Pattern does not state a general refund policy for Canada; refunds depend on the merchant policy or applicable law. | High |
| Quebec statutory cancellation (when applicable) | If the merchant omitted required information, consumer may cancel within 7 days; merchant must refund within 15 days and cover return shipping. | Medium |
