What is Toronto Hydro

What happens when you cancel

When your cancellation/disconnection request is processed, Toronto Hydro will arrange for a final meter read or estimate the final bill if a read is not possible, issue a final bill that includes delivery charges and any applicable adjustments, and close the account. Service access (power) is disconnected only on the arranged date and in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements. Your consumption history and account records are retained according to utility and regulatory record‑keeping policies; if you need copies, request them before closure. If you reconnect later you may be subject to new account setup, deposits or connection fees as permitted by OEB rules.

Will I get a refund?

If you paid a design prepayment or deposit for a temporary (isolation) or permanent disconnection, Toronto Hydro may refund the prepayment if you cancel before work proceeds; however, the utility will deduct actual costs for any assessment hours or work already completed. Refunds for deposits or prepayments are therefore possible but not guaranteed in full.
