Cancellation Photodirector: Easy Method
What is Photodirector
PhotoDirector is CyberLink’s photo-editing application available on mobile and desktop that combines traditional editing tools with AI features such as object removal, sky replacement, and automated enhancements. It is sold as subscription plans (monthly or annual) and via platform stores (Apple App Store, Google Play) as well as directly from CyberLink’s website.
How to cancel Photodirector
- iOS (App Store): If you subscribed through Apple, cancel through the Apple App Store only: open Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions, locate PhotoDirector and cancel. CyberLink cannot cancel App Store subscriptions for you.
- Android (Google Play): If you subscribed via Google Play, cancel through the Play Store: open Play Store > Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions, select PhotoDirector and cancel. CyberLink cannot cancel Google Play subscriptions for you.
- Web (CyberLink site): If you subscribed on the Web, cancel in the PhotoDirector Web App or CyberLink Member Area: sign in > Your profile > Your billing > Manage your subscription to cancel.
- Android / PayPal billing: If a Play Store subscription was billed through PayPal or you use PayPal automatic payments, cancel either in the Play Store subscription area or in PayPal (Settings > Payments > Manage automatic payments) to stop future billing.
- General rule: Always cancel on the same platform you used to subscribe. Cancelling on the wrong platform typically will not stop billing.
What happens when you cancel
After cancellation you will generally retain access to premium features until the end of the current paid billing period; the subscription will not renew after that date. Your account, libraries and edited files remain in your PhotoDirector account, but certain premium features will be disabled once the subscription expires. Canceling does not automatically delete your account or project files - if you want data removed you should delete it separately or contact support with a clear request.
Will I get a refund?
Refunds depend on where you purchased the subscription. Purchases made directly from CyberLink’s online store are eligible for CyberLink’s published 30‑day money‑back guarantee (subject to conditions such as unused points or credits). Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play must be handled through Apple or Google respectively; CyberLink cannot issue refunds for those in‑app purchases. Some guidance for Android indicates that once a subscription period is active you may not receive a refund for unused time, so check the platform’s refund rules and CyberLink’s web‑store policy for specifics.
Photodirector plans and pricing
| Plan | Price (CAD) | Period | Features |

| Mobile App - Annual Subscription | C$35 - 36 per year | Annual | Same features as monthly but billed yearly |
| Mobile App - Annual (Pro+) | C$140 - 150 per year | Annual | Pro‑level extras beyond standard annual |

Your consumer rights in Canada
Under Canadian provincial and territorial consumer protection laws, digital goods and services should be of acceptable quality and not misrepresented. For purchases made directly on the Web, CyberLink’s 30‑day satisfaction/refund policy helps meet these standards, but consumers may have additional remedies if a product is defective or advertising was misleading. For in‑app purchases through Apple or Google, the platform providers’ terms and refund processes apply, which may limit what CyberLink can do directly. If you believe you were misled or the product fails to perform, you can contact provincial consumer protection offices for guidance.
Customer experiences
User reviews are mixed: many users praise PhotoDirector for being user‑friendly and feature‑rich, highlighting strengths such as AI object removal, sky replacement, layer editing, batch RAW processing and useful creative effects. Others report problems with customer support responsiveness, confusion over billing and renewals, occasional software instability, and difficulty obtaining refunds for platform purchases. These differing experiences underscore the importance of checking the exact purchase channel and keeping receipts and account records when subscribing or requesting refunds.
Documentation checklist
- Order receipt or confirmation email (include date, order number, and purchase platform)
- Screenshot of subscription entry in App Store, Google Play, or CyberLink Member Area
- Transaction ID from your bank or PayPal if billed through those services
- Account email used for the PhotoDirector/CyberLink account
- Any correspondence with CyberLink or platform support (support ticket numbers, dates)
- If sending a letter, use registered mail (raccomandata A/R) and keep a copy of the letter and tracking/receipt
Common mistakes
Common mistakes include attempting to cancel on a different platform than the one used to subscribe (for example canceling in CyberLink Member Area when the purchase was made through the App Store). Another frequent issue is failing to confirm cancellation - always verify the subscription status after canceling to ensure it shows as cancelled or set to expire. Relying on deletion of the app to stop payments is a mistake; you must cancel the subscription in the store or account where it was purchased. Finally, not keeping purchase records can make refund or dispute requests harder to resolve.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Apple App Store (iOS) | Refunds handled by Apple; CyberLink cannot issue refunds | Moderate (use Apple support/refund request) |
| Google Play (Android) | Refunds handled by Google; CyberLink cannot issue refunds | Moderate (use Google Play refunds process) |
| Web (CyberLink online store) | 30‑day money‑back guarantee via CyberLink Member Area (subject to conditions) | Easy - Moderate (request via Member Area/support) |
| PayPal‑billed subscriptions | Refunds depend on original seller/platform and PayPal dispute/resolution policies | Moderate - Hard (may require platform + PayPal actions) |
After cancelling
After you cancel, keep copies of your cancellation confirmation and continue to monitor your payment method to ensure no further charges. If you need a refund for a Web purchase, start with CyberLink’s Member Area within 30 days. For App Store or Google Play purchases, use the respective platform refund processes. If billing or service problems persist, gather documentation and consider contacting your bank or card issuer and/or your provincial consumer protection agency for next steps.
