Cancellation Webflow: Easy Method

What is Webflow

Webflow is a web design and hosting platform that combines a visual site builder, CMS, ecommerce, and hosting in a single product. It lets designers and teams build responsive sites without writing front‑end code, and also provides workspace (team) plans, site plans, and additional hosted subscription products such as ecommerce and memberships.

How to cancel Webflow

  • Site plans and Workspace plans: sign in to your Webflow account, go to Account settings (or the specific Site settings for a site plan) and downgrade the Workspace or the Site to the free Starter plan. Workspace and Site plans must be canceled separately. By default, the downgrade takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you can choose immediate cancellation, but that removes paid features (for example custom domains) and may unpublish the site immediately. See Webflow’s help article on downgrading or canceling a Site plan: Downgrade or cancel your Site plan.
  • Webflow-hosted subscription products (ecommerce/memberships): users can cancel their subscription immediately from the subscriptions element on their account/user page. Cancellation does not automatically create a refund; administrators must issue refunds manually if they choose to do so. See: Subscriptions.
  • Mobile app stores: Webflow does not offer subscriptions via the iOS App Store or Google Play, so App Store / Google Play cancellation is not applicable.

What happens when you cancel

If you downgrade to the free Starter plan effective at the end of your billing period, your paid plan simply stops renewing and paid features remain available until the period expires. If you choose immediate cancellation, paid features such as custom domains and certain hosting capabilities are removed immediately and your site may be unpublished. Workspace seats, add‑ons, and site features are removed according to the plan downgrade. For Webflow‑hosted subscription products, user cancellations stop future billing for that subscription but do not automatically refund payments - administrators must process refunds themselves if they decide to do so.

Will I get a refund?

Webflow’s official policy is that refunds are generally not offered for plan subscriptions, add‑ons, seats, Marketplace purchases, or sales tax. The company does provide a legal exception only for individuals (not businesses) who purchase from within the EU/EEA, the UK, or Turkey: a 14‑day cooling‑off right on an initial purchase, unless Marketplace media has been downloaded or installed. Canadian consumers do not have a statutory 14‑day cooling‑off right for online digital subscriptions under Canadian federal law; Webflow’s no‑refund policy therefore applies in Canada. You can contact Webflow Support to request an exception, but refunds are not guaranteed. See Webflow’s refund policy: Webflow Refund Policy.

Your consumer rights in Canada

Under Canadian consumer protection law there is generally no automatic 14‑day cooling‑off period for online digital subscriptions; statutory cancellation/refund rights of the kind available in the EU/UK/Turkey do not apply by default. Canadian users should therefore rely on Webflow’s published policies: Webflow’s standard position is not to provide refunds. If you believe you have been wrongly charged or there are extenuating circumstances, contact Webflow Support and consider contacting your payment provider or card issuer to discuss a dispute or chargeback as a last resort. This is general information and not legal advice.

Customer experiences

Users report a mix of experiences. Positive reviews (for example on Capterra Canada) praise Webflow’s design flexibility, customization, and deployment ease. Criticisms (noted on Trustpilot and GetApp) commonly mention slow or inconsistent customer support, perceived opaque pricing and upselling, technical instability in the designer UI, and limitations around ecommerce, CMS limits, and multilingual features. These experiences can vary by team size, project complexity, and expectations.

Documentation checklist

  • Account email and login details, billing invoices and receipts, and the Webflow project ID(s).
  • Exported site files and CMS exports (download backups and any assets you need before downgrade).
  • Domain transfer or DNS records you need to move to a new host (ensure you have registrar access if transferring domains).
  • List of workspace seats to remove and any team member contact details to notify.
  • Record of any hosted subscriptions/memberships to cancel via the user account page and note any required admin refund actions.

Common mistakes

Users commonly assume that cancelling will automatically produce a prorated refund - Webflow’s policy is generally no refunds. Another frequent error is choosing immediate cancellation without exporting site assets or transferring domains, which can lead to immediate loss of a custom domain and an unpublished site. Some people also attempt to cancel through mobile app stores; since Webflow doesn’t offer subscriptions through App Store/Google Play, those steps are not applicable and won’t stop billing for Webflow plans.

Comparative recap

Method Refund Difficulty
Web (downgrade Site or Workspace to Starter) No refund generally; billing stops at period end unless immediate cancel chosen (no prorated refunds) Low (self‑service in account settings)
App Store / Google Play Not applicable - Webflow subscriptions are not offered through mobile app stores Not applicable
Webflow-hosted subscription products (ecommerce/memberships) Cancellation stops future billing; refunds are not automatic - administrators must issue refunds manually if they choose to Low for users to cancel; Medium for admins to process refunds

After cancelling

Before and after cancellation, export any site assets and CMS data you need and move domains or update DNS so your site stays live where you want it. For detailed steps, see Webflow’s downgrade/cancel article: Downgrade or cancel your Site plan, the Subscriptions article for hosted products: Subscriptions, and the Refund Policy page: Webflow Refund Policy. If you need help, contact Webflow Support through your account and keep copies of invoices and correspondence for any follow‑up.

FAQ

Choosing immediate cancellation will remove paid features such as custom domains and may unpublish your site right away. Ensure you understand the implications before proceeding.

Generally, Webflow does not offer refunds for subscriptions. However, if you are an individual from the EU/EEA, UK, or Turkey, you may have a 14-day cooling-off right for your initial purchase.

To cancel Webflow-hosted subscription products, go to your account's subscriptions page and cancel from there. Note that cancellations do not automatically trigger refunds.
