Cancellation Smallcase: Easy Method
What is Smallcase
Overview
Smallcase is a platform that lets investors buy and manage thematic, strategy-based portfolios of stocks (called "smallcases") through broker partners. It combines curated portfolios with order execution tools and subscription-based premium smallcases.
How it works
Users subscribe to free or fee-based smallcases and place lump-sum or SIP orders via their linked broker. Fee-based smallcases may charge a recurring subscription set by the smallcase manager.
How to cancel Smallcase
Cancel via App / Web (Subscriptions dashboard)
- Open the Smallcase app or the partner platform where you subscribed.
- Go to the Subscriptions dashboard in the app or on the partner platform.
- Select the fee-based smallcase subscription you want to stop.
- Choose the option to cancel; confirm when prompted to stop auto-renewal.
- Note: cancelling via the dashboard stops future renewals but does not automatically trigger refunds.
Cancel e-Mandate (eNACH) subscriptions
- If you subscribed using an e-Mandate (eNACH), email publisher.help@smallcase.com with your registered email and the smallcase name.
- Smallcase will share mandate details (maximum limit, validity, UMRN) and request your confirmation by email.
- Once you confirm by email, the e-Mandate cancellation is processed within 72 hours.
What happens when you cancel
Access and renewals
Cancellation stops automatic renewal of the fee-based smallcase at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to the subscribed service until the end of the active billing cycle.
Data, history and billing
Your account history, past transactions and statements remain available in your Smallcase account as per the platform's normal record-keeping. Billing for the completed billing period remains payable under the original terms.
Will I get a refund?
Standard refund policy
There is no refund for the unused portion of a billing period after you cancel; cancellation only stops future auto-renewals and does not provide partial refunds for remaining days.
Exceptions and manager discretion
- Refunds of subscription fees are governed by the terms between you and the smallcase Manager and are issued at the Manager's discretion.
- There is no automatic statutory 14-day cooling-off right for these subscriptions; refund rights are limited and determined by the Manager's policy.
Smallcase plans and pricing
Pricing table
| Plan | Price | Period | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lump-sum / Buy Order Transaction Fee | ₹100 + GST (capped at 1.5% of order value) | Per transaction | One-time platform fee for lump-sum or "invest more" orders in free and fee-based smallcases |
| SIP Transaction Fee | ₹10 + GST (capped at 1.5% of SIP amount) | Per SIP installment | Platform fee charged each SIP run for free and fee-based smallcases |
| Subscription Fee for Fee-based smallcases | Varies by manager (example range: ₹99 - ₹9,999) | Monthly / Quarterly / Annual (as set by manager) | Charged by SEBI-registered smallcase Managers for premium portfolios, research and rebalances |
| Low-ticket Lump-sum Investments (<₹4,000) | 2.5% of investment + GST | Per transaction | Alternate fee structure for small investments instead of flat ₹100 + GST |

Customer experiences
Positive feedback (summary)
- Users report the app is convenient and helps discover portfolios easily.
- Interface is described as clean and intuitive, with a broad range of investment options and responsive customer support.
- Some public ratings show generally favorable scores for pricing, quality and support (example aggregate ratings reported publicly).
Negative feedback (summary)
- Criticism around performance reporting and the timing of rebalances can make returns appear different from executed prices.
- Frequent rebalancing may increase brokerage and capital gains tax, which can erode returns compared with passive alternatives.
- Some users find fees high for small investments and question transparency of CAGR and performance metrics.
Documentation checklist
Required information to cancel e-Mandate
- Registered email address used for the Smallcase account.
- Name of the smallcase subscription you wish to cancel.
Recommended supporting documents
- Subscription invoice or order confirmation (screenshot or PDF).
- Bank transaction reference or mandate UMRN if available (Smallcase will provide mandate details on request).
- Any correspondence with the smallcase Manager or platform support related to the subscription.
Common mistakes
Expecting an automatic refund
Many users assume cancelling a subscription triggers a refund for the unused period. For Smallcase, cancellation stops future renewals; refunds are not automatic and depend on Manager policies.
Failing to cancel e-Mandate separately
Cancelling via the Subscriptions dashboard may stop renewals but does not always cancel the underlying e-Mandate. For eNACH subscriptions, follow the email process to ensure the mandate is revoked.
