Cancellation Flashpay: Easy Method
What is Flashpay
Service overview
Flashpay (Flash app) is a fast payment app for everyday cashless transactions in Singapore, focused on quick retail and transport payments.
It is distinct from NETS FlashPay physical stored-value cards; the app and the physical card are separate products with different purchase and refund rules.
Key differences from NETS FlashPay card
The Flash app is free to download and operates as a digital payment service managed by Flash Pay (SG) Pte. Ltd.
NETS FlashPay cards are physical stored-value cards sold at a one-time cost and have separate refund processes managed by TransitLink/NETS and banks.
How to cancel Flashpay
Cancel during payment flow (app payments)
- Flash app uses a two-step payment flow: Step 1 and Step 2 (identity verification).
- You can cancel a payment only while still in Step 1; once you complete Step 2 (identity verified), the app does not allow cancellation of that payment.
- If you are unsure which step you are on, do not proceed to the identity verification stage until you confirm you want to complete the payment.
Cancel subscriptions / stop using the service
- There is no in-app subscription cancellation button. To terminate ongoing use, stop using the service or request account deletion via Flash support.
- Account deletion is subject to regulatory constraints; Flash retains minimal required personal data even after closure per their terms.
- For support and account requests, refer to Flash support: Flash Support.
What happens when you cancel
Access and service termination
If you cancel a pending payment in Step 1, the transaction is not completed and no charge should occur.
If you stop using the app or request account deletion, your access will end but some minimal personal data may be retained for legal/regulatory reasons.
Renewals and ongoing charges
Flash app has no recurring subscription management in-app; recurring or improper charges reported by users have required contacting support or banks to resolve.
For services billed through third parties (e.g., PaywithFlash-like arrangements), cancellations may take effect at the end of the paid term - check the merchant's terms.
Will I get a refund?
Flash app refund policy (app payments)
Flash processes eligible refunds within 14 working days according to their support information.
Refunds are discretionary and typically apply to failed transactions or demonstrable errors, not general cancellations after identity verification.
Refunds for physical NETS FlashPay cards
- Physical card refunds (damaged/lost) follow NETS/TransitLink/bank processes and may be immediate or take up to 14 working days depending on the case.
- For NETS/TransitLink-related guidance, see bank guidance such as DBS: DBS - card & EZ-Link function.

Your consumer rights in Singapore
General refund and rights
Flash does not state a statutory 14-day cooling-off right in its public terms for Singapore users.
Refunds for eligible issues are processed at Flash's discretion and normally within 14 working days when granted.
Applicable protections and complaints
- Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act may apply to unfair practices; unresolved disputes can be raised with the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) or relevant payment dispute channels.
- For NETS physical card issues, use TransitLink/NETS and your bank's card dispute process for refunds and investigations.
Customer experiences
Reported negative experiences
Some users report recurring charges after attempting cancellation and difficulty removing payment details or stopping charges.
Users have described lengthy disputes and opaque cancellation processes requiring intervention with support or card issuers.
Positive or neutral feedback
Official materials show the app is free to download and convenient for quick payments, with clear top-up fees listed for card types.
Refund timelines (14 working days) are stated for eligible refunds, which can help set expectations for resolved cases.
Documentation checklist
What to prepare before contacting support
- Account email or phone number used with Flash app.
- Transaction ID(s), date/time, amount, and screenshots of charges or payment screens.
- Any message or confirmation showing the payment flow stage (Step 1 vs Step 2).
What to prepare for bank disputes
- Bank/card statement entries showing the disputed charge(s).
- Correspondence with Flash support and any support ticket numbers.
- Identification documents if the bank or card issuer requests verification.
Common mistakes
Assuming in-app cancellation exists
Many users try to cancel after completing identity verification (Step 2); the app does not permit cancellation at that point.
Always verify you are still in Step 1 before proceeding if you may want to cancel.
Expecting automatic refunds
Expecting an automatic refund for general cancellations is a common error; refunds are typically for failed transactions or errors and are discretionary.
Not keeping transaction evidence or failing to contact support promptly can delay or complicate any refund or dispute.
