Cancellation Resdiary: Simple Process

What is Resdiary

Overview

ResDiary is an online booking and table management platform used by restaurants and venues to accept reservations and manage covers.

The service is subscription-based for businesses and provides booking widgets, diary tools and reporting features.

Role in bookings

ResDiary acts as a platform connecting customers with restaurants; it does not itself set individual restaurant cancellation or refund policies.

Responsibility for charges, refunds and specific booking terms lies with the restaurant or venue that receives the reservation.

How to cancel Resdiary

If you are a customer

  • Check your reservation confirmation (email or SMS) for the restaurant’s stated cancellation policy and any cut-off times.
  • Cancel the booking directly with the restaurant using the contact details on the confirmation or via the booking link provided by the venue.
  • If the restaurant accepts cancellations through ResDiary links or their confirmation page, follow those instructions precisely and keep a timestamped record.

If you are a restaurant or manager (ResDiary diary)

  • Open the ResDiary diary and click the booking you wish to cancel.
  • Tap the trash/delete icon, select a cancellation reason, optionally notify the customer by email or SMS, and save.
  • Canceled bookings are visible in the restaurant’s cancellation list for reporting; see ResDiary support for full steps: Cancelling a booking (ResDiary Help).

What happens when you cancel

Booking status and access

When a booking is cancelled by the restaurant, the reservation will be removed from the active diary and listed in cancellations for reporting.

If you cancel directly with a restaurant, keep any confirmation message; that record shows the cancellation timestamp and any refund or charge instructions.

Records and reporting

Restaurants can view cancelled bookings in ResDiary’s cancellation reports to reconcile covers and payments.

ResDiary does not process refunds itself; any refund record or charge reversal is managed by the restaurant or their payment provider.

Will I get a refund?

General policy

ResDiary does not handle refunds and disclaims liability for refund issues; refunds are the responsibility of the restaurant or venue that took your booking.

There is no standard ResDiary refund policy - refund terms depend entirely on the restaurant’s own policy communicated when you booked.

Exceptions and actions

  • If you paid a deposit or prepayment, contact the restaurant first to request a refund and ask for a written response.
  • If the restaurant refuses to honour its stated terms or the terms were misleading, you may escalate (e.g., Consumer Association of Singapore) or dispute the charge with your card issuer - keep all evidence.

Resdiary plans and pricing

Plans summary

The publicly listed ResDiary plans and prices below are shown in Australian dollars (AUD) in ResDiary materials; no verified SGD pricing is publicly available.

Features listed are the core features published for each plan and include setup fees and promotional notes where provided.

Notes on currency and billing

Pricing found in public sources is denominated in AUD and may not reflect local Singapore packaging or taxes.

Contact ResDiary or a local reseller for any SGD quotes or local billing arrangements.

Your consumer rights in Singapore

Cooling-off and contract law

Under Singapore law there is no general 14-day cooling-off right for service bookings such as restaurant reservations unless the provider states one.

Because ResDiary is a platform, cancellation and refund rights depend on the restaurant’s stated terms at booking.

Where to get help

If a restaurant’s stated terms are misleading or not honoured, you can seek advice or assistance from consumer advocacy bodies in Singapore.

Keep written evidence of the booking, payment and any communications when pursuing a complaint or dispute resolution.

Customer experiences

Reported negative themes

Public reviews (mainly outside Singapore) commonly report unclear refund handling where customers expected platform-managed refunds but the venue was responsible.

Other frequent complaints include slow or poor customer support responses and confusing sales or contract terms.

Context and balance

Reviews available in public sources are largely UK/other-market focused and may not reflect Singapore experiences directly.

Many issues arise from the restaurant’s own policies or local implementation rather than the ResDiary software alone.

For examples of public feedback see: ResDiary on Trustpilot.

Documentation checklist

What to keep

  • Reservation confirmation email or SMS with booking reference and stated cancellation policy.
  • Payment receipts, deposit confirmations and card statement lines showing charges.
  • All communication with the restaurant (email, SMS, chat logs) and screenshots of booking pages showing terms.

Useful additional items

  • Timestamped proof of when you requested cancellation (screenshots, sent emails).
  • Any written acknowledgement of refund or charge from the restaurant.
  • Diary cancellation entries if provided by the restaurant (for manager/restaurant users).

Common mistakes

Assuming ResDiary issues refunds

A common error is assuming ResDiary will refund deposits or prepayments; in most cases the restaurant is responsible for refunds, not the platform.

Always confirm the refund source before disputing a charge with your bank.

Not keeping booking evidence

Another frequent mistake is failing to save the reservation confirmation or cancellation proof, which weakens any later dispute or complaint.

Save emails, SMS and screenshots immediately and record the time and method of any cancellation request.

Comparative recap

At-a-glance comparison

The table below summarises ResDiary’s role versus the restaurant for cancellations, refunds and support.

Use this to quickly identify who to contact and what to expect after cancelling a booking.

Item Period ResDiary role Restaurant role
Cancellation policy - Platform hosts the booking; does not set policy Sets and communicates the cancellation policy to customers
Refunds - Does not process refunds; disclaims liability Responsible for issuing refunds or retaining deposits per their terms
Support for disputes - May provide diary tools and logs for restaurants; limited consumer-facing support Primary contact for refunds, cancellations and dispute resolution
Pricing & subscriptions monthly Lists subscription plans and fees for restaurants (AUD prices publicly listed) May apply own booking terms or extra charges to customers

After cancelling

Confirm the cancellation

Always get a written confirmation from the restaurant after you cancel (email or SMS) and keep it as proof.

If you paid a deposit, ask the restaurant for the expected refund timetable and the refund method.
