Cancellation Power Bi: Easy Method
What is Power Bi
Overview
Power BI is a cloud-based analytics and reporting service from Microsoft that lets users connect to data, create interactive reports and share dashboards.
It is offered primarily by subscription and integrates with Microsoft 365, on-premises data sources and many third-party services.
Key capabilities
Power BI provides data modelling, visualisations, scheduled refreshes and AI-assisted insights for business reporting.
Plans vary by features such as model size, refresh frequency and sharing/collaboration capabilities.
How to cancel Power Bi
Cancel on iOS (Apple App Store)
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions, locate the Power BI subscription, then choose "Cancel Subscription" or turn off automatic renewal.
- See a step summary at this guide: Cancel via Apple App Store.
Cancel on Android (Google Play)
- Open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile, then go to Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- Find Power BI and select "Cancel subscription" and follow the prompts.
- Reference: Cancel via Google Play.
Cancel individual Microsoft purchase (web)
- Sign in to your Microsoft account and go to the Services & Subscriptions page.
- Locate the Power BI subscription and select "Cancel subscription" or turn off recurring billing.
- See Microsoft's guidance: Cancel via Microsoft account.
Cancel organisational/business purchase
- A Global Administrator or Billing Administrator should sign in to admin.microsoft.com.
- Go to Billing → Subscriptions or Your products, select the Power BI subscription and cancel or disable recurring billing.
- Administrative cancellation details are covered in Microsoft support threads: Microsoft Q&A.
Cancel trial or close individual Power BI account
- In the Power BI service click the gear icon → Settings → General tab → "Close Account" to cancel a trial or close an account.
- Closing an account will delete your Power BI data - follow Microsoft's instructions: Close account.
What happens when you cancel
Access and renewal
After cancelling, you generally retain access until the end of the current paid period unless the provider specifies immediate termination.
Automatic renewal is stopped so you will not be billed again after the current term ends if cancellation succeeded.
Data and shared content
Cancelling a subscription does not always immediately delete content, but closing an account or removing service entitlements can delete Power BI data.
For trials and account closures, Microsoft warns that data deletion may be permanent - export important data before closing.
Will I get a refund?
Microsoft's general policy for Singapore
Microsoft's Services Agreement for Singapore states purchases are generally final and non‑refundable unless required by law or otherwise stated.
Billing errors should be reported within 90 days; refunds are at Microsoft's discretion. See: Microsoft Services Agreement (SG).
Exceptions and marketplace rules
- Marketplace purchases (visuals/apps) may qualify for a full refund if cancelled within seven days of purchase.
- For business or organisation billing (e.g., MCA billing), a prorated credit or refund may be possible if cancelled within seven days of the start or renewal; beyond that refunds are limited.
- Some third‑party sellers offer separate money‑back guarantees (e.g., 14 days) under their own policies.

Digital content and cancellation rights
Under Singapore law, there is generally no automatic right to cancel or obtain a refund for digital content once access has begun.
If you activate or begin using the service, cancellation rights may be limited or lost depending on the contract terms.
Microsoft policy alignment
Microsoft applies its global Services Agreement in Singapore: purchases are final unless otherwise required by law or stated.
Report billing errors promptly (within 90 days) to preserve your right to contest charges. See: Microsoft Services Agreement (SG).
Customer experiences
Positive feedback
Many users praise Power BI for advanced analytics, strong visualisations and AI‑assisted features.
Users also highlight its drag‑and‑drop interface, collaboration tools and dashboarding for presentations.
Common criticisms
Frequent complaints cover a complex licensing model (Free vs Pro vs Premium) and a steep learning curve, especially with DAX formulas.
Other reported issues include refresh delays, initial setup complexity and occasional data import bugs; there are reports of serious data loss when incorrect remediation steps were followed.
Documentation checklist
Before you cancel
- Export or back up important reports, datasets and workspaces.
- Note subscription details: purchase date, billing method, renewal date and order number.
- Confirm whether the subscription was purchased via Apple, Google Play, Microsoft web, or an organisational admin.
When requesting refunds or support
- Keep receipts, transaction IDs and screenshots of billing pages.
- Record any error messages, steps taken and support case numbers.
- Have administrator contact details ready for organisational accounts.
Common mistakes
Assuming cancellation is automatic
Example: Turning off auto‑renew but not confirming the cancellation can leave the subscription active.
Always check the subscription list in the store or Microsoft account to confirm status.
Not exporting data before closing
Example: Closing an account or deleting a workspace without backup can lead to permanent data loss.
Always export PBIX files, datasets and document user permissions before account closure.
