Cancellation Zego: Easy Method
What is Zego
Overview
Zego is a UK-based insurer that offers flexible, subscription-style car and commercial vehicle cover tailored to drivers and businesses. It focuses on pay-as-you-go (flex) cover, 30‑day rolling policies and annual policies for delivery and private-hire use.
Who it serves
Zego is commonly used by self-employed delivery drivers, courier fleets and private-hire drivers who need flexible cover. Policies are managed primarily through the Zego Delivery app and web portal.
How to cancel Zego
Cancel via the Zego Delivery app
- Open the Zego Delivery app and tap "Cover" to view active policies.
- Select the policy you want to cancel and choose "Cancel your policy".
- Confirm a cancellation reason and settle any outstanding balance shown in the app.
- Follow on-screen prompts to complete cancellation; refunds (where due) are processed back to the original payment card.
Cancel if you bought on the web or need help
- If you purchased a policy outside the app (on the web), you must contact Zego Customer Support to cancel - use live chat, email or phone as available.
- For step-by-step guidance on app cancellations see the Zego help blog: How to cancel in the Delivery app.
What happens when you cancel
Access and cover
Once cancellation is confirmed in the app or by support, your cover stops on the cancellation date shown. Do not rely on screenshots alone - wait for the confirmation message.
Renewal and account status
Automatic renewals stop after cancellation. Your Zego account remains active for login, and you can purchase new cover later if needed.
Data and records
Zego retains policy records as required by law. If you need copies of documents after cancellation, request these from Customer Support.
Will I get a refund?
Pay-as-you-go (Flex) refunds
- Remaining Zego balance is refunded to the original payment card after cancellation, minus any account set-up fee and excluding promotional or referral credits.
- Promotional credit and referral bonuses are non-refundable.
30‑day and annual policy refunds
- 30‑day policies: cancellations do not attract a refund for the paid 30‑day period.
- Annual policies: on cancellation via the app you will see a cancellation quote showing original premium, paid amount, time used and refund due.
- If you cancel an annual policy within the first 14 days you are generally entitled to a full refund minus the time on cover and any set-up fee; after 14 days refunds depend on time on cover, claims and payment method - see the policy booklet and Zego’s refund guidance.
For Zego’s official refund explanations see: If I cancel, will I get a refund?.

Your consumer rights in South Africa

Customer experiences
Positive feedback
Many customers praise Zego for clear digital interfaces and responsive customer service via chat and the app. Flexibility and ease of buying short-term cover are often highlighted.
Negative feedback
Common complaints include lack of refund for 30‑day policies, occasional difficulty accessing support, and reports of unexpected cancellations.
When reading reviews, consider the context of each complaint and Zego’s official policy wording. See general customer reviews: Zego on Trustpilot.
Documentation checklist
What to have ready before cancelling
- Policy number and the email used to register the policy.
- Payment card details used for the policy (for refund processing).
- Vehicle registration and make/model information.
- Reason for cancellation and any claim history details.
Optional records to collect
- Copies of policy booklet or terms and conditions.
- Confirmation screenshots or emails from Zego (keep until refund is processed).
Common mistakes
Expecting refunds for 30‑day policies
A frequent mistake is assuming a pro‑rata refund for 30‑day rolling policies. Zego’s policy for 30‑day products does not provide refunds on mid-period cancellation.
Attempting the wrong cancellation route
Some customers attempt to cancel web-purchased policies via the app. Web purchases must be cancelled through Customer Support to ensure proper handling and refund checks.
Not settling outstanding balances
Failing to clear any outstanding balance shown in the app can prevent cancellation completing and delay refunds. Always follow the app prompts to settle amounts due.
