Cancellation Cd Baby: Easy Method
What is CD Baby
Overview
CD Baby is a digital distribution and services platform for independent musicians, helping them publish, sell and collect royalties from streaming services and music stores worldwide.
Core services
Services include one-time-fee digital distribution, optional publishing administration, promotional tools like Boost, and artist landing pages via HearNow.
How to cancel CD Baby
Cancel a release (digital distribution)
- Log into your CD Baby account and go to “Albums & Singles”.
- Click “view/edit” next to the release, scroll to "Distribution" and click "Cancellation Options".
- Select “Cancel ALL Digital Distribution” to remove the release from partners and submit.
- For step details see the official guide: How to cancel an album or single.
Cancel from specific partners
- In the same "Cancellation Options" choose “Cancel From Specific Partners” to target individual platforms.
- Follow the prompts to pick partners and submit your cancellation.
- Reference: Cancel on a specific platform.
Cancel account and related services
- Cancel all active releases and services (Boost, HearNow, Pro Publishing, etc.).
- Download sales and tax reports you need, then submit a support ticket requesting account closure.
- See the closure procedure: How to close or cancel your CD Baby account.
What happens when you cancel
Distribution removal timeline
When you cancel all digital distribution, CD Baby states releases are removed from partners within up to 30 days after submission of the cancellation.
Removing from specific partners follows partner-processing timelines; some platforms may take longer to reflect the change.
Access, data and services
Cancelling distribution does not automatically cancel HearNow pages, which must be cancelled separately in HearNow account settings.
Before closing an account, download sales, tax and royalty reports. Some legacy services (e.g., Pro Publishing) have separate timelines and post-termination collection periods.
Will I get a refund?
CD Baby refund policy
You may request a refund for a single or album submission within 90 days of purchase only if the title has not yet been submitted to digital partners.
Once a title has been delivered to partners, CD Baby's policy states no refund is available even if the release is not yet live. See the refund guidance here: Refund policy details.
Boost refunds and content delivery
You may request a refund for CDB Boost within 90 days of first agreeing to the Boost terms.
Refunding Boost does not remove content already delivered to digital partners by that service.

Your consumer rights in South Africa
Statutory cooling-off
South African Consumer Protection Act provides a 14-day “cooling-off” right for certain transactions involving direct marketing and some digital content.
If digital content is delivered by download or streaming and you expressly agree, you may waive that right; otherwise the statutory protection can apply.
Practical recourse and chargebacks
If you are outside CD Baby's stated refund windows or experience non-delivery you may consider bank chargebacks or PayPal disputes as additional options.
Be prepared with transaction records, timestamps and correspondence when filing disputes or consumer complaints.
Customer experiences

- Users also highlight wide streaming distribution and helpful step-by-step resources for independent artists.
Common complaints
- Frequent reports of slow or unsatisfactory customer support and long response times.
- Issues such as incorrect artist attributions on platforms and difficulties resolving removals or account problems have been reported.
See user reviews for context: Trustpilot reviews.
Documentation checklist
Before you cancel a release
- CD Baby account login credentials and release IDs (ISRC, UPC where available).
- Downloaded backups of all audio files, artwork and metadata.
- Copies of sales, royalty and tax reports you will need after cancellation.
Before you close your account
- Cancel or remove all active services (Boost, HearNow, publishing administration).
- Prepare a support ticket with your request; reference any legacy contracts if applicable.
- See account closure instructions: Close or cancel account.
Common mistakes
Mistake examples
Not cancelling HearNow separately - removing distribution does not automatically cancel HearNow artist landing pages.
Expecting immediate removal - partner platforms often take days to weeks to update; CD Baby allows up to 30 days for partner removals.
How to avoid them
Always download reports before you cancel and check each service (Boost, HearNow, MLC, Pro Publishing) for separate cancellation steps.
Open a support ticket and document the cancellation request so you have a written trace of actions and timestamps.
Comparative recap
Quick comparison
| Action | CD Baby result | 期間 |
|---|---|---|
| Cancel all digital distribution | Removes release from partners; partners may still take time to delist. | Up to 30 days |
| Cancel from specific partners | Targets selected platforms; processing varies by partner. | Varies by partner |
| Cancel HearNow page | Must be cancelled in HearNow account settings; distribution unaffected. | Immediate cancellation of subscription |
| Close CD Baby account | All active releases and services must be cancelled first; submit support ticket. | After ticket processing |
What to prioritise
If you need removal from stores, start with the distribution cancellation. If you need landing page removal, cancel HearNow separately.
After cancelling
Next steps
- Confirm partner removal by checking stores and streaming platforms after 2 - 4 weeks.
- Keep copies of all correspondence and downloaded reports for at least the following tax year.
