Cancellation Splashlearn: Easy Method
What is Splashlearn
SplashLearn (operated by StudyPad, Inc.) is an online educational platform offering interactive math and reading practice for children, accessible via web browsers and mobile apps. It provides subscription-based access to learning content, family and school plans, and in-app purchases through Apple and Google storefronts.
How to cancel Splashlearn
- App Store (Apple iTunes): You cannot cancel from SplashLearn; cancel through Apple. On an iPhone/iPad go to Settings > your name > Subscriptions, find SplashLearn and turn off Auto-Renewal. For refunds use Apple’s Report a Problem or the App Store/Apple Support refund procedures. For guidance see SplashLearn’s article: How can a parent cancel the trial subscription?.
- Google Play: Subscriptions are managed in Google Play. Open the Google Play Store > Menu > Subscriptions, locate SplashLearn and cancel. For refunds request one via Google Play’s refund process. Reference: subscription notes.
- Web (card or PayPal via SplashLearn site): Log into your SplashLearn account on the web, go to Parents > Settings > Account Details > Membership Details, then click “Cancel subscription” or “Cancel trial” to disable auto-renewal. You retain access until the paid/trial period ends. See SplashLearn support: support article.
What happens when you cancel
When you cancel a subscription, auto-renewal is turned off and the subscription will not renew at the next billing date. Access to paid content typically continues until the end of the current paid period or trial. Your SplashLearn account, profile, and learning progress are generally retained so you can resume service if you re-subscribe, but specific data-retention policies are governed by SplashLearn’s account and privacy terms.
Will I get a refund?
SplashLearn’s published terms do not promise pro-rated refunds once a subscription period has begun and state that refunds are not generally provided for started periods. Purchases made through Apple or Google must follow those stores’ refund policies and you must contact Apple or Google for refunds. For web purchases via SplashLearn’s site there is no universal refund guarantee; some users have reported receiving refunds in particular cases (for example, unintended charges) after contacting support, but outcomes vary and are not assured.
Splashlearn plans and pricing
| Plan | Price (CAD) | Billing | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free/basic access | Varies | Varies | Limited content; optional in-app or site upgrades |
| Individual / Family subscription | Varies | Monthly or annual (Varies) | Paid access to full library for home users |
| School / Classroom plans | Varies | Varies | Institution pricing and licenses for educators |
Your consumer rights in Canada
Canadian consumers are protected by provincial consumer protection laws that may apply to digital goods and services, but SplashLearn’s public terms do not reference a statutory 14‑day cooling‑off right. That means SplashLearn’s stated policy is that they do not provide refunds for periods already started, although legal rights under provincial rules (for example, in Ontario or other provinces) may still exist. If you believe a refund was wrongly denied, you may need to escalate to your payment provider, Apple/Google, or your provincial consumer protection agency for review.
Customer experiences
Reviews are mixed. Some parents report positive learning outcomes and engagement, while public review sites also include many complaints about unexpected charges, auto-renewals occurring after cancellation, and difficulties obtaining refunds. Trustpilot and other review platforms show multiple reports of denied refund requests and confusion over trial billing; however, a few users report satisfactory outcomes after contacting support or their payment provider.
Documentation checklist
- Account email and username
- Subscription/order ID and date
- Original receipt or payment confirmation (screenshot or PDF)
- Cancellation confirmation or screenshot showing Auto-Renewal turned off
- Correspondence with SplashLearn, Apple, Google, or your bank (dates and copies)
- Last charged amount and date
Common mistakes
Common errors include attempting to cancel on the SplashLearn website when the subscription was purchased via Apple or Google, failing to turn off auto-renewal in the app store used for purchase, not saving a cancellation confirmation, or cancelling the wrong account (for example, when multiple family accounts exist). Another frequent issue is assuming a trial cancellation will prevent an immediate charge when the trial was applied through a store - which often requires cancelling through that store and checking their refund policy.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| App Store (Apple) | Refunds handled by Apple per their policies; contact Apple Support or use Report a Problem | Medium - must use Apple account & may require appeal |
| Google Play | Refunds handled by Google Play per their policies; request via Google Play | Medium - managed entirely through Google Play |
| Web (SplashLearn site) | No guaranteed refund in terms; some case-by-case refunds reported after contacting support | Low - Medium - cancel via account settings; refund depends on support response |
After cancelling
After you cancel, keep copies of cancellation confirmations and payment receipts. If you paid through Apple or Google and need a refund, contact the relevant store first. For web purchases contact SplashLearn support and include the documentation checklist items. Useful links: SplashLearn cancellation support (support article), SplashLearn Terms of Use (Terms of Use), Apple Report a Problem (reportaproblem.apple.com), and Google Play subscriptions help (Google Play subscriptions). If refunds are refused and you are in Canada, consider contacting your payment provider and your provincial consumer protection office for next steps.
