Cancellation Lime: Easy Method
What is Lime
Lime is a mobility service that offers electric scooters, bikes and subscription passes that let users unlock and ride vehicles in participating cities. In Canada Lime operates under a User Agreement that sets out subscription terms, cancellation rights and refund policies specific to Canadian consumers.
How to cancel Lime
- Web/App (Canada): To cancel a subscription under Canadian terms, contact Lime directly (for example by emailing [email protected]) and request cancellation. Canadian users generally have a 14‑day right to cancel after confirmation; because Lime provides service immediately, any refund is adjusted proportionally for usage during that period. Keep copies of your request and any confirmation from Lime.
- In‑App (LimeApp) / LimePass: If you have a LimePass subscription, cancel inside the Lime app at least 24 hours before the next billing cycle to prevent renewal. After cancellation, pass benefits typically continue until the end of the current billing period; refunds or credits for unused time are not provided unless required by law.
- App Store / Google Play: If you subscribed via Apple or Google, manage and cancel the subscription through your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings. Lime does not provide special cancellation instructions for these platform subscriptions.
- Registered mail option: If you prefer a formal withdrawal, send a signed model withdrawal form or cancellation letter by registered mail (raccomandata A/R) to Lime’s address below and keep the postal receipt.
What happens when you cancel
When you cancel a subscription via the Lime app or by contacting Lime, your subscription will stop future renewals. For LimePass, benefits normally continue until the end of the paid billing cycle but you will not receive credit for unused time. If you cancel under the 14‑day right of withdrawal, Lime will calculate any refund after deducting value for the service already provided. Cancellation does not automatically delete account data; Lime’s data and privacy terms govern retention and any deletion requests.
Will I get a refund?
Lime’s Canadian User Agreement states a general no‑refund policy: “As a policy, we do not offer refunds for your use of our Services, and any exceptions to this policy are in our sole discretion.” However, Canadian consumers normally have a 14‑day right to cancel after order confirmation. Because Lime begins providing services immediately, any refund within that period will be reduced proportionally to reflect usage. LimePass subscriptions are generally non‑refundable for unused portions unless local law requires otherwise. In practice, refunds beyond the statutory withdrawal adjustment are uncommon and any exceptions are evaluated by Lime.
Lime plans and pricing
| Plan | Price (CAD) | Period | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pay‑per‑ride (example: Vancouver) | C$1.25 unlock + C$0.39/min | Per ride | Standard unlock fee and per‑minute charge |
| Lime Prime subscription (approx) | ≈ C$8/month | Monthly | Unlimited free unlocks, ~25% ride discounts, 30 min reservations |
Your consumer rights in Canada
Under Lime’s updated Canadian terms (effective December 18, 2024) consumers generally have a 14‑day right to cancel after order confirmation. Because Lime provides services immediately, any refund under that right must be adjusted proportionally for the amount of service consumed. After that statutory period, Lime’s standard position is not to provide refunds except where required by law or at Lime’s discretion. Provincial consumer law may add protections or additional remedies; if you believe a charge is unfair or you were unable to use a paid service due to app failures or equipment faults, raise the dispute promptly with Lime and keep documentation to support any complaint.
Customer experiences
Public reviews from Canadian users show recurring themes: some customers report unexpected charges, difficulty stopping or ending rides, and delays or lack of response from customer service when disputing charges. There are also complaints of app malfunctions (for example, failed purchases or problems ending rides) and sporadic equipment issues such as flat tires or broken parts. Not every user experiences problems, but the volume of negative reports suggests it is important to document transactions and communications when you have a billing or service issue.
Documentation checklist
- Account email/username, phone number and city
- Screenshots of subscription or ride pages, receipts and billing entries
- Dates and times of charges or rides and amounts charged
- Copies of emails, in‑app support tickets, chat transcripts and any confirmation of cancellation
- Registered‑mail receipt and copy of model withdrawal form if you mailed cancellation
Common mistakes
Common errors include cancelling too close to the billing renewal window (for LimePass you must cancel at least 24 hours before the next cycle), cancelling through the wrong channel (for platform subscriptions you must cancel with Apple or Google), and failing to keep confirmation evidence. Other mistakes are assuming an automatic refund after cancellation or waiting too long to dispute a charge - both reduce your options. For app or billing problems, screenshots and prompt contact are essential; long delays in contacting support make successful refunds or corrections less likely.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Web/App (email to Lime) | Possible within 14‑day withdrawal (proportional), otherwise unlikely | Medium - requires contacting support; response times vary |
| In‑App (LimeApp / LimePass) | No refunds for unused portions; cancellation prevents renewal | Low - straightforward cancel in app, but no refund for unused time |
| App Store / Google Play | Refunds handled by Apple/Google per their policies | Medium - must navigate platform subscription settings and appeals |
After cancelling
After you cancel, save any cancellation confirmations and monitor your bank or card account and Apple/Google receipts for unexpected charges. If you do not receive confirmation from Lime, follow up and escalate with evidence. For policy details see Lime’s Canadian User Agreement: Lime User Agreement (Canada) and the LimePass terms: LimePass Terms and Conditions. If required, send a signed model withdrawal form or cancellation letter by registered mail (raccomandata A/R) to preserve evidence of notification.
