Cancellation Hubdoc: Easy Method
What is Hubdoc
Hubdoc is a cloud-based document capture and bookkeeping automation service that extracts data from receipts, bills and statements and syncs documents and extracted data to accounting platforms such as Xero and QuickBooks Online. It is commonly used by small businesses and accounting practices to centralize source documents and reduce manual data entry.
How to cancel Hubdoc
- Via the web (recommended for direct Hubdoc accounts): Sign in to your Hubdoc account, go to account or billing settings and follow the Service instructions to delete your account (see Hubdoc Terms of Use §2.1.2). Deleting your account cancels access and the subscription. For details, see Hubdoc Terms.
- Via iOS / App Store purchases: If you subscribed through Apple, cancel through your Apple ID on your iOS device: Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions and cancel Hubdoc there. Hubdoc cannot cancel App Store purchases directly; refunds and requests are handled by Apple (see developer guidance on refunds).
- Via Google Play (Android) purchases: If you subscribed through Google Play, cancel through the Google Play app > Menu > Subscriptions > Hubdoc. Google handles cancellations and refunds for Play Store purchases.
- By mail (optional, for paper proof): Send a signed cancellation notice to Hubdoc Inc., Attn: Cancellations or Customer Service, and keep proof of delivery. For legal proof, send by registered mail (see Address section below).
What happens when you cancel
When you cancel or delete your Hubdoc account you will lose access to the Hubdoc service and any active syncing. Deleting the account effectively cancels the subscription and stops automatic renewals. Because cancellation removes your access, you should export or back up any documents and exported data (CSV, archived files or accounting integrations) before cancelling; once access is removed you may not be able to retrieve items from the service through the normal user interface.
Will I get a refund?
Under Hubdoc’s Terms of Use (see §8.1), fees paid are non-refundable and payment obligations cannot be cancelled. If you purchased Hubdoc through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, any refund requests must be submitted to Apple or Google and will be handled under their respective refund policies. Hubdoc does not issue refunds for in‑store purchases and generally treats direct subscription fees as non-refundable unless otherwise required by applicable law or platform rules.
Hubdoc plans and pricing
| Plan | Price | Period | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Subscription | C$15.00 | Monthly | Unlimited usage, unlimited collaborators, seamless syncing to Xero and QuickBooks Online, mobile capture, email upload, tech support |
Your consumer rights in Canada
Hubdoc’s contractual terms state that fees are non-refundable and that cancellation is the user’s responsibility. In Ontario and generally across Canada, B2B SaaS subscriptions may not be covered by consumer cooling‑off rules that apply to individuals buying consumer goods or services; therefore there may be no statutory 14‑day cooling‑off right for business subscriptions. App Store and Google Play purchases are subject to platform refund processes and windows (for example, Google Play commonly allows refund requests within a short period after purchase). If you believe provincial consumer protection laws apply to your purchase, you may wish to seek independent advice or contact the relevant consumer protection office for your province.
Customer experiences
Public reviews are mixed. Positive feedback highlights Hubdoc as a useful “online filing cabinet” with straightforward document capture, reasonable CSV extraction and time savings when forwarding documents into accounting systems like Xero. Negative reviews report an unintuitive interface, bugs and glitches, issues syncing or publishing (including tax rounding and duplicate invoices), limited feature controls such as access tiers, and variable customer support responsiveness. The experience can vary by account setup, integrations in use and whether the subscription was purchased through a platform store.
Documentation checklist
- Account email and Hubdoc username
- Subscription receipts or invoices (dates and amounts)
- Payment method details (last 4 digits of card, bank statement lines)
- App Store or Google Play purchase receipts (if applicable)
- Screenshots of subscription/billing page showing plan and status
- Exported documents and CSVs of records you need to keep
- Any support ticket numbers or correspondence about cancellations
- Registered mail tracking number or delivery confirmation if you send a letter
Common mistakes
Common mistakes include attempting to cancel a purchase made through Apple or Google via Hubdoc (those must be cancelled through the platform), failing to export documents before deleting an account (losing access to data), assuming cancellation automatically yields a refund, and overlooking shared or organization-level subscriptions - if your organization pays centrally, cancelling a personal access point may not stop billing for the organization. Always verify which account and which billing channel was used to subscribe before cancelling.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Web account deletion (direct Hubdoc subscription) | Fees are generally non-refundable per Hubdoc Terms of Use §8.1 | Easy to Moderate - done in account settings, but export data beforehand |
| App Store (iOS) subscription | Refunds handled by Apple; request via Apple Support or your purchase history | Easy to cancel on device; refund outcome depends on Apple policies |
| Google Play (Android) subscription | Refunds handled by Google; request via Google Play purchase history or support | Easy to cancel in Google Play; refund outcome depends on Google policies |
| Registered mail / written cancellation to Hubdoc | Cancellation accepted but fees are generally non-refundable; serves as proof of notice | Moderate to Hard - slower and requires postal proof of delivery |
After cancelling
After you cancel, confirm the cancellation by saving on-screen confirmation, any emails from Hubdoc or platform receipts, and by checking that auto-renewal has stopped on your payment method. If you purchased via Apple or Google, submit any refund requests directly through their support portals and retain request IDs. Keep exported records and store them securely.
