Important warning regarding service limitations

Postclic is an independent third-party service, with no affiliation, partnership, or representation link with the brand Meetup. The use of the brand name is strictly for reference and descriptive purposes, in order to identify the mail recipient. Postclic exclusively offers a mail drafting assistance service and a certified, timestamped, and tracked digital mail sending service. If your subscription was purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the cancellation must be done directly with those platforms.

In the interest of transparency and prevention, it is essential to recall the inherent limitations of any dematerialized sending service, even when timestamped, tracked and certified. Guarantees relate to sending and technical proof, but never to the recipient's behavior, diligence or decisions.

Please note, Postclic cannot:

  • guarantee that the recipient receives, opens or becomes aware of your e-mail.
  • guarantee that the recipient processes, accepts or executes your request.
  • guarantee the accuracy or completeness of content written by the user.
  • guarantee the validity of an incorrect or outdated address.
  • prevent the recipient from contesting the legal scope of the mail.

Cancellation Meetup: Easy Method

What is Meetup

Overview

Meetup is an online platform that helps people create, join and manage local groups and events around shared interests.

Groups can be free or use paid subscriptions for organisers and members to access additional features.

Who uses it

Organisers use Meetup to schedule events, collect dues or tickets, and manage member lists.

Members use Meetup to find and join groups, RSVP to events and sometimes pay for tickets or subscriptions.

How to cancel Meetup

Cancel a recurring subscription on desktop

  • Sign in on the Meetup website as the organiser or account holder.
  • Go to Settings → unsubscribe to stop auto-renewal and cancel the recurring subscription.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm cancellation.

Cancel purchases made through Apple (iOS)

  • If the subscription was purchased via the Apple App Store, you must cancel and request refunds through Apple.
  • Meetup cannot cancel or refund App Store purchases directly; see Apple's terms for processing.

What happens when you cancel

Access and renewal

When you cancel auto-renewal, your subscription will not renew at the next billing date.

You generally keep access for the remainder of the paid period unless otherwise stated.

Organizer-specific consequences

After cancellation or a failed payment, organisers have a 15-day grace period before being stepped down.

If no replacement organiser is nominated during or after that period, the group may close permanently.

Will I get a refund?

Meetup refund policy (organiser subscriptions)

  • Only the most recent organiser fee is eligible for a refund if requested within the applicable window.
  • Refund windows: 20 days for weekly or monthly plans, and 60 days for yearly plans.

Exceptions and other payments

  • Refunds are not available for downgrades, requests outside the refund window, or if a refund was already issued within the prior 8 months.
  • Purchases made via the Apple App Store are handled by Apple and are ineligible for direct Meetup refunds.
  • For member-to-organiser payments (dues or tickets), organisers are encouraged to refund when appropriate; members should first contact the organiser.

Your consumer rights in India

Legal protections

Indian consumers are protected by the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and E-Commerce Rules, 2020.

Online platforms must display clear pricing, seller information, return/refund policies, and grievance redressal details.

How this applies to Meetup

  • Misleading or opaque billing may be treated as a deficiency in service under Indian law.
  • Digital services do not automatically get a 14-day cooling-off right unless the seller offers it explicitly.
  • Consumers can escalate unresolved issues to consumer forums (District, State, National) or official helplines.

Customer experiences

Common complaints

Some users report being charged for auto-subscriptions despite cancelling or being unable to cancel before renewal.

Recurring themes include opaque billing practices, unexpected charges, and difficulties obtaining refunds.

Positive and neutral notes

Meetup’s help pages describe refund windows and the role of platform vs third-party stores like Apple.

For member-to-organiser payments, Meetup encourages organisers to handle refunds and can assist via Trust & Safety when needed.

Where users report issues

  • Complaints about unexpected charges appear on third-party review sites and social platforms.
  • If you have a payment dispute, start by contacting the organiser or Meetup Trust & Safety (payment options may include Stripe).

Documentation checklist

What to collect before you escalate

  • Order or subscription receipts from Meetup or the App Store.
  • Screenshots showing cancellation confirmation or attempts to unsubscribe.
  • Bank or card statements showing the charge(s) in question.

Additional useful items

  • Any messages exchanged with the organiser about refunds or cancellations.
  • Event or ticket IDs, dates, and names of organisers involved.

Common mistakes

Assuming cancellation works the same in all stores

Many users try to cancel inside the Meetup app but their purchase was billed via the Apple App Store.

Always check which store processed the payment before requesting a refund.

Missing the refund window or replacement steps

Requesting a refund outside the specified windows (20 days for monthly, 60 for yearly) commonly leads to denial.

Organisers who cancel subscriptions without naming a replacement risk their group closing after the 15-day grace period.
