Cancellation Sprout Social: Easy Method
What is Sprout Social
Overview
Sprout Social is a subscription-based SaaS platform for social media management, scheduling, engagement and analytics used by businesses and teams.
How organisations use it
Teams use Sprout to centralise inboxes, schedule content, track performance and produce reports across multiple social profiles.
How to cancel Sprout Social
Cancel via iOS App Store
- Open iOS Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions.
- Find Sprout and tap Cancel Subscription to stop future renewals via Apple.
- Note: Sprout Social cannot cancel subscriptions that are managed by Apple. See the official guidance: Sprout help - subscription management.
Cancel via Google Play (Android)
- Open Google Play Store > tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
- Select Sprout and choose Cancel subscription to stop renewals through Google Play.
- Again, Sprout cannot directly cancel Google Play - managed subscriptions.
Cancel via Sprout Web (own billing)
- Log in to your Sprout Social account and go to Account & Settings > Billing (or Billing & Plan).
- Select "Deactivate" or follow the on-screen cancellation option to initiate cancellation; this typically takes effect at the end of your current contract term.
- For step-by-step web instructions see Sprout’s support article: How do I downgrade or cancel my plan?.
Contacting support to cancel
- Use the in-app chat or email support@usesprout.com to request cancellation or help - this is often the fastest option.
- Support can confirm your billing method and advise whether cancellation must be done via Apple/Google or via Sprout’s billing portal. See: Subscription management & cancellations.
What happens when you cancel
Access and billing
Cancellations for Sprout-billed accounts generally take effect at the end of the current contract term; you retain access until the paid period expires.
Subscriptions managed by Apple or Google remain active until their store billing period ends even after you cancel in the store.
Data and account status
Your account data typically remains intact for the remainder of the paid term. Review exported reports and backups before expiry if you need local copies.
If you later reactivate, your previous data and configuration policies may be subject to Sprout’s retention and reactivation policies.
Will I get a refund?
Standard refund policy
- Under Sprout Social’s Terms, cancelling mid-term generally does not entitle you to refunds or credits.
- Refunds or credits for prepaid and unused fees are not routinely issued except in limited circumstances described in the Terms: Sprout Social Terms.
Exceptions and store purchases
- Sprout may issue refunds for unused credits or unutilised service periods in some cases; approved refunds typically process in about 5 - 7 business days depending on your bank.
- If you purchased via Apple, Sprout cannot directly refund those charges and will direct you to Apple’s refund process. Refer to the cancellation article: Subscription management & cancellations.
- Material breach: a prorated refund may be considered only if Sprout fails to cure a material breach within the contracted cure period described in the Terms.
Sprout Social plans and pricing
Pricing availability
Sprout Social lists prices in USD on its public site. There is no official INR-denominated pricing published for India (2024/2025).
If you need an INR figure, convert the USD amount at the prevailing forex rate or contact Sprout Sales for local billing options.
How to get exact cost
Contact Sprout Sales via your account or the support channels to request a quote or to confirm any regional offers and taxes.
| Plan | Price / Note |
|---|---|
| All plans | Contact for pricing - no official INR pricing listed publicly |
Your consumer rights in India
Cooling-off and statutory rights
There is no explicit 14‑day automatic cooling-off or refund right for Sprout Social subscriptions in India as published in Sprout resources.
Sprout’s online materials and Terms govern cancellations and refunds; standard Indian consumer protections may not automatically apply to a US-based SaaS subscription without specific local contractual terms.
Local entity note and refunds
- Sprout India Private Limited (a different entity) states no refunds once services are delivered; this applies to that local company and may not reflect Sprout Social’s global policy. See: Sprout India return & refund policy.
- Always check the specific agreement and payment method; Apple/Google store purchases follow the respective store’s policies.
Customer experiences
Positive feedback
- Users commonly praise Sprout for ease of use, strong scheduling workflows and detailed analytics. See third‑party summaries: Sprout Social reviews (summary).
- Capterra and G2 listings note a centralised dashboard and reliable reporting as strengths: Capterra reviews.
Common complaints
- Frequent negatives include perceived high cost, difficulty cancelling in some reported cases, rigid contract terms and mixed support experiences.
- Review sites and user comments point to pricing and contract flexibility as recurring concerns for some organisations.
Documentation checklist
Before you request cancellation
- Account owner email and username.
- Last invoice or billing date and payment method used.
- Contract term details or renewal date.
If interacting with support or stores
- Screenshots of the subscription page or billing portal showing plan and renewal date.
- Support ticket IDs, chat transcripts or email confirmations for audit and follow-up.
- Store purchase receipts (Apple/Google) if the subscription was bought through a mobile store.
Common mistakes
Assuming store cancellations are done by Sprout
Many users try to cancel inside the Sprout app but the subscription is managed by Apple/Google; this does not stop store billing. Always check where the payment is charged.
Expecting guaranteed mid-term refunds
Users sometimes expect an automatic refund when cancelling mid-term. Sprout’s Terms generally do not guarantee prorated refunds except in narrow circumstances.
To avoid issues, confirm billing ownership (Sprout vs App Store vs Google Play) and keep documentation of any cancellation request.
Comparative recap
Summary table
| Feature | Sprout Social | Typical alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Cancellation methods | Web billing: Account & Settings > Billing; App store cancellations must be done via Apple/Google | Varies - some alternatives offer in-app cancellation or more flexible self-serve portals |
| Refund policy | No routine prorated refunds mid-term; exceptions by case or material breach | Some competitors offer short trial refunds or prorated refunds depending on plan |
| Pricing transparency | Public USD pricing; no official INR pricing published | Some alternatives publish regional pricing or local currency options |
Key takeaways
Sprout provides robust features but cancellation and refund flexibility are limited compared with some providers. Verify billing origin and contract term before cancelling.
