Cancellation Ooma: Step-by-Step Guide
What is Ooma
Overview
Ooma provides VoIP home and small-business phone services with features such as voicemail, call blocking, and mobile app integration.
Core features
Services run on a subscription model and typically require an Ooma device or an app to place and receive calls.
Official terms, service rules and device policies are published by Ooma on its website.
How to cancel Ooma
Contact methods
Cancellation must be made directly with Ooma’s Customer Care Department; you cannot finalize cancellation via the App Store, Google Play, or an online account page.
If you signed up through an app store, you still need to contact Ooma Customer Care to complete the cancellation.
Step-by-step cancellation
- Gather account details: account number, phone number on the account, and billing information.
- Contact Ooma Customer Care (phone or official support channels) and request termination of service.
- Request written confirmation of the termination request (email or support ticket) and retain it as proof.
- Allow a minimum of 5 business days for the termination request to be processed; termination becomes effective at the end of your current billing period or minimum term.
- If returning purchased equipment, obtain a return authorization and follow Ooma’s return instructions.
See Ooma’s official service terms for details: Ooma Residential Terms & Conditions.
Note on app-store signups: app-store registrations cannot be canceled through the store alone; Ooma Customer Care must be contacted. For context, see a practical cancellation guide: How to cancel Ooma (guide).
What happens when you cancel
Service access
Your service remains active until the termination becomes effective at the end of the current billing period or minimum service term.
Active features (calls, voicemail, app access) continue to work until that effective date.
Billing and records
Termination requests take a minimum of 5 business days to process; billing stops at the effective termination date but may not stop immediately on request.
Keep copies of billing statements, confirmation emails, and related records in case of billing disputes after cancellation.
Will I get a refund?
General refund policy
Ooma’s policy states that service charges, taxes, fees, and prepaid balances for unused service terms are non-refundable.
Do not expect prorated refunds for remaining service time unless explicitly agreed by Ooma.
Exceptions and equipment returns
- Equipment purchased directly from Ooma may be returned for a refund within 30 days if you (a) terminate your account within that 30-day window, (b) obtain a return authorization, and (c) return the equipment in original condition no later than 14 days after termination. Return shipping is your responsibility.
- Ooma Office hardware has a 30-day money-back guarantee; note that the first month of service may be non-refundable. Returns must be arranged via Customer Care, and return shipping is at your cost.

Ooma plans and pricing
Official pricing source
Ooma publishes official pricing and rates on its website. Always check the official pricing pages for current information.
For official rate information, see Ooma’s published rates and related legal pages.
Local pricing note
Ooma does not publish Singapore-specific pricing in SGD on its publicly available U.S.-focused pages. Do not rely on third-party quotes for Singapore pricing.

Your consumer rights in Singapore
Legal protections
Under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act, consumers are entitled to clear contract terms and fair practices.
Hidden fees, unclear automatic upgrades, or misleading trial representations may violate consumer protection rules in Singapore.
How to act if you have a dispute
Retain transaction records and communications; the Electronic Transactions Act supports keeping electronic records as evidence.
If unresolved with Ooma, you may lodge a complaint with the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) or pursue remedies at the Small Claims Tribunal for eligible claims.
Customer experiences
Positive feedback
Some customers report good call quality, helpful app behavior, and value for price, especially for small-business needs.
Positive remarks often highlight the mobile and web apps and reliable voice quality for typical home/business usage.
Negative feedback
Common criticisms in public reviews include unexpected premium charges, difficulty canceling, billing continuing after cancellation, and mixed customer-service experiences.
Review aggregates and user posts also describe billing opacity and frustrations with refunds and cancellation processing time.
Documentation checklist
What to prepare before calling
- Account number and the phone number associated with the account.
- Billing name, billing address, and last payment details (card or invoice reference).
- Device serial numbers or purchase receipts for equipment to be returned.
Proof to keep after you request cancellation
- Written confirmation of the termination request (email, support ticket, or reference number).
- Return authorization number and proof of shipment for returned equipment.
- Copies of the final bill and any refund or credit communications.
Common mistakes
Assuming app-store cancel is enough
Many customers assume removing the app or canceling via the App Store/Google Play stops Ooma billing. It does not; Ooma Customer Care must be contacted to complete the termination.
Failing to obtain return authorization or proof
Attempting to return equipment without a return authorization or proof of timely return can void a refund opportunity.
Also, not keeping written confirmation of cancellation often causes disputes if billing continues.
