Cancellation Giga: Easy Method
What is Giga
Overview
Giga is a Singapore-based mobile service offering flexible, SIM-only postpaid plans tailored for data-heavy users. Plans are contract-free, auto-renewing monthly or every six months for certain bundles.
Key characteristics
Giga offers large-data plans, optional eSIM, free data rollover, and caller ID included. Pricing includes prevailing GST and there is no lock-in period on plans.
How to cancel Giga
Primary cancellation method
- Open the giga! App (or the giga! website if your account has web access).
- Find the subscription or postpaid line you wish to cancel and submit a cancellation request.
- Ensure you submit the request at least 3 working days before your next renewal date for it to take effect on the last day of the current billing cycle.
Other cancellation notes
- There is no early termination fee when you cancel following the in-app/website process.
- Voucher codes bought via third-party platforms (e.g., Shopee) cannot be cancelled or refunded after issuance; redeemed vouchers auto-renew until you cancel in the app.
What happens when you cancel
Service access and billing
Cancellation takes effect on the last day of your current billing cycle if the request is made at least 3 working days before renewal.
No early termination fees apply when cancelling through the app or website as described in the giga! terms.
Porting out and immediate termination
If you port your number out, the line terminates immediately upon successful port-out. There is no refund or prorated credit for unused days after porting out.
Plan renewals stop after cancellation takes effect; ensure any needed data or services are used before the end date.
Will I get a refund?
Standard refund policy
- All amounts paid for plans, extras, data packs, roaming passes and similar are explicitly non-refundable under giga! terms.
- This includes cancellations, unused balances, expired entitlements, and forfeited allowances.
Exceptional refunds and processing
Refunds are rarely granted and handled at giga!'s discretion in exceptional cases only.
If a refund is approved, processing may take up to 7 working days and the refund method is chosen by giga!. See the official terms for details: giga! Terms & Conditions.

Your consumer rights in Singapore
Cooling-off and refund rights
Singapore’s Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act provides cancellation rights for certain direct-sales contracts, but it generally does not apply to mobile postpaid plans like giga!.
There is no statutory 14-day cooling-off period or automatic refund right for telecom postpaid services in Singapore.
Escalation routes
- If you cannot resolve billing, porting, or service issues with giga!, you may escalate complaints to the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) for telecom disputes.
- For monetary claims, consider Singapore’s Small Claims Tribunal if other remedies fail.
General information on cancellation rights is available here: CPFTA & cancellation guide.
Customer experiences
Positive reports
Many users appreciate the lack of lock-in and flexible, high-data plans that suit heavy users. Port-in and SIM delivery are sometimes reported as seamless.
Pricing competitiveness and generous data allowances are commonly cited positives.
Negative reports
There are recurring reports of slow or unresponsive customer support, with email or chatbot replies taking days or not arriving.
Some users report porting failures, issues receiving incoming SMS/OTP, app glitches (including billing anomalies), and difficulty obtaining timely resolutions. See community reports for examples: user discussions.
Documentation checklist
Before you cancel
- Account login details for the giga! App or website.
- Your NRIC/FIN and name as registered with the account for identity verification.
- Details of any voucher code or third-party purchase (note: vouchers are non-refundable once issued).
If porting out
- Receiving operator’s porting instructions and any required authorisation codes.
- Backup of important messages or contacts in case of immediate termination on successful port-out.
Common mistakes
Missing the 3-working-day window
Example: Submitting a cancellation request less than 3 working days before your renewal may mean cancellation does not take effect until the following cycle.
Always check your next renewal date in the app and submit early.
Assuming refunds or prorated credits
Example: Believing you will receive a prorated refund after porting out. Giga! does not provide refunds or prorated credits for unused days after port-out.
Plan amounts, extras and vouchers are generally non-refundable per giga! terms.
Comparative recap
At-a-glance comparison
| Feature | Giga - Summary |
|---|---|
| Lock-in | No lock-in; contract-free plans and ability to cancel anytime via app |
| Cancellation method | In-app or website cancellation; submit ≥3 working days before renewal |
| Refunds | Generally non-refundable; exceptions rare and at giga!'s discretion |
| Porting out | Immediate termination on successful port-out; no prorated credit |
| Customer service | Mixed reports: good on some port-ins, but several complaints about slow support and unresolved issues |
How to choose
If you prioritise large data allowances and no lock-in, giga! is a strong option.
If timely customer support and guaranteed refunds are essential, consider this trade-off before committing.
After cancelling
What to do immediately
- Confirm cancellation in the app and save any confirmation or reference number.
- Use remaining data and services before the end of the billing cycle if needed.
