Cancellation Trainerize: Easy Method

What is Trainerize

Trainerize is a cloud-based platform that connects fitness trainers, gyms and fitness businesses with their clients through program delivery, scheduling, in-app messaging and payment management. It is used both by individual trainers and by studios to distribute workouts, track progress and sell training products; pricing and billing are managed primarily through Trainerize's web interface and the trainer/business accounts.

How to cancel Trainerize

  • Account owner (recommended web method): Log into your Trainerize account on the web, go to Settings > Billing and click "Cancel auto-renew." This stops future billing; your account will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle and then downgrade to the Free plan. See How Do I Cancel My Subscription? for guidance.
  • Client of a trainer/business: If you are a client, cancel your paid program through your trainer or the fitness business that sold it - Trainerize does not manage client-side commercial subscriptions. If your trainer is unresponsive, remove your card details via the desktop site or contact your financial institution for next steps. See Client of Trainer: How Do I Cancel My Training Program.
  • Trainers canceling a client product: Trainers can cancel recurring products from a client's profile under Sales and choose to cancel at the end of the billing cycle, cancel immediately with a refund (enter amount), or cancel immediately without a refund. See How to Cancel a Client's Product.
  • App Store / Google Play purchases: Trainerize does not publish specific in-app cancellation steps in its help articles. If you subscribed via Apple or Google, check the Apple App Store or Google Play subscription management pages for platform-specific cancellation and refund requests.
  • Document your cancellation: After cancelling, save screenshots and any confirmation emails. If you need proof later, registered mail (see Address section) can provide delivery confirmation.

What happens when you cancel

When an account owner cancels via the web, future billing stops and the account remains functional until the end of the current paid billing period. At the period end the account downgrades to Trainerize's Free plan. Existing programs and client data remain in place, but paid add‑ons, multi‑client seats and other paid features are removed. The Free plan typically limits the account to one client and retains marketing emails until unsubscribed.

For clients of a trainer, cancellation handling depends on the trainer/business: the client’s access and billing will be controlled by that trainer’s configuration and policies. If you cancel via a platform (Apple/Google), your access and billing follow the platform's timing and rules.

Will I get a refund?

Trainerize's standard policy is that subscriptions and partial unused periods are non‑refundable. The Terms of Service state there are no refunds or credits for partial months or unused time except in limited circumstances. If Trainerize (the company) terminates the service for convenience with written notice, it may issue a prorated refund for unused time; if Trainerize breaches the contract and you present sufficient evidence, a prorated refund may be available. These exceptions are narrow and set out in the Trainerize Terms of Service.

There is no Trainerize documentation reference to a Canada‑specific 14‑day cooling‑off right. If you believe consumer protection law in your province gives you additional rights, see the consumer rights section below and consider seeking local advice.

Trainerize plans and pricing

Plan Price (approx. CAD) Period Features
Grow ≈ CAD $12 - 13 / month Monthly All Free features plus Trainerize.me profile, integrations, automated program delivery, ability to purchase add‑ons.
Pro 5 ≈ CAD $27 / month Monthly Everything in Free plus more integrations, product storefront, live support, purchase add‑ons.
Studio Plus ≈ CAD $310 / month Monthly Pro features plus branded apps, free add‑ons, API access, multi‑location and onboarding support.
Pricing notes Trainerize publishes prices in USD. Canadian billing is converted to CAD at the time of charge and applicable taxes may apply; amounts shown are approximate equivalents. For exact charges check your invoice and payment provider.

Your consumer rights in Canada

Trainerize's Terms of Service emphasize non‑refundable subscriptions with limited exceptions. Canadian provincial consumer protection laws may provide additional rights that can affect the enforceability of blanket "no refund" terms, particularly where terms are uneven or where goods/services are defective or not provided as promised. These protections vary by province (for example, Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act and similar provincial statutes). Trainerize does not publish Canada‑specific refund rules; if you believe your statutory rights apply, contact your provincial consumer protection office or seek legal advice for guidance specific to your situation.

Customer experiences

Public reviews are mixed. Many users praise Trainerize for intuitive program delivery, built‑in exercise videos, calendar and messaging features, and usefulness for remote coaching - reviews on platforms such as GetApp and Capterra note good trainer - client communication and scalable workflows.

Conversely, several reviewers report difficulties with cancellations, billing issues (including being charged despite cancellation attempts), occasional app bugs, and limitations in nutrition tracking or integrations. Billing complaints and customer service responsiveness are recurring themes on review sites such as Trustpilot. These mixed reports suggest cancellation and refund experiences can vary depending on whether you cancel via web, through a trainer, or via an app store, and on individual trainer/business practices.

Documentation checklist

  • Account email, username and billing receipts (screenshots or PDFs)
  • Screenshot of the Settings > Billing page showing "Cancel auto‑renew" or confirmation
  • Any confirmation email or on‑screen cancellation message
  • Records of communications with your trainer or business (messages, emails)
  • Bank or card statements showing charges you dispute
  • Link to the Trainerize Terms of Service and relevant Help Center articles

Common mistakes

Users commonly assume cancelling the mobile app subscription is enough - if the trainer or business manages billing, you still need to contact them. Another frequent error is not saving a cancellation confirmation (screenshot or email), which can make disputes harder to resolve. Some users attempt to cancel via the app stores when the subscription is managed on the Trainerize web account or by the trainer; platform‑specific subscriptions require cancellation where they were purchased. Finally, people sometimes wait too long to act after noticing an unwanted charge; prompt documentation and communication are important if you intend to dispute a charge with your bank or seek recourse.

Comparative recap

Method Refund Difficulty
Web (account owner) Generally no refunds for unused periods (downgrades to Free) Low to Moderate (web cancellation is straightforward, but confirm and save receipts)
Client via Trainer Depends on trainer/business policy; Trainerize does not generally issue refunds for client sales High (must contact trainer/business; responsiveness varies)
Trainer cancelling client product Possible (trainer can issue immediate refunds or cancel at period end) Moderate (action required by trainer through Sales tools)
App Store / Google Play Platform dependent (Apple/Google refund rules apply) Moderate to High (requires following platform procedures)

After cancelling

After you cancel, check your billing statement for any unexpected charges and retain confirmation screenshots or emails. If you are a client and your trainer did not end billing as requested, contact the trainer first; if there is no resolution, consider contacting your payment provider to request a charge dispute and provide your documentation. Helpful resources include Trainerize’s Help Center cancellation articles (How Do I Cancel My Subscription? and How to Cancel a Client's Product) and the Trainerize Terms of Service. If you believe provincial consumer protection law applies, contact your provincial consumer protection office for guidance.
