Cancellation Confluence: Easy Method
What is Confluence
Confluence is Atlassian’s collaborative wiki and documentation platform for teams, used to create, organize and share content such as project docs, knowledge bases and meeting notes. It integrates tightly with other Atlassian products (notably Jira) and offers cloud-hosted plans with features for permissions, storage and support tiers.
How to cancel Confluence
- Web (direct Atlassian billing): an administrator signs in at admin.atlassian.com, opens Subscriptions → Manage → More actions → Cancel subscription. Cancellation is scheduled and normally takes effect 15 days after the end of the current billing period; no prorated credit is issued. From the same admin interface you can undo a scheduled cancellation. If you need an immediate cancellation or have questions about timing, contact Atlassian Support via support.atlassian.com.
- App Store / Google Play: Confluence subscription management is handled via Atlassian’s billing system rather than app stores. There is no official guidance indicating subscriptions are cancellable through the Apple App Store or Google Play; manage cancellation through Atlassian’s admin portal or Support.
What happens when you cancel
When a cancellation is scheduled it will prevent future renewals after the effective date; your current billing period remains active until it ends and the scheduled cancellation becomes final (administrators can undo a scheduled cancellation before it takes effect). There is no automatic prorated refund for unused time when cancellation becomes effective. Access to the site and its content generally continues until the subscription ends, after which account access, billing and data handling follow Atlassian’s retention policies, which vary by plan. If you need your content after cancellation, export or back up spaces and attachments before the subscription ends and contact Support for plan-specific retention timelines.
Will I get a refund?
Atlassian’s published refund windows are the controlling terms: monthly Confluence Cloud subscriptions may be eligible for a refund only within the first paid month, and annual subscriptions may be refunded only within 30 days of payment. Outside those windows refunds are not provided. There is no general statutory 14‑day automatic right to cancel or receive a refund for Confluence subscriptions; users should rely on Atlassian’s stated refund policy and contact Atlassian Support to discuss exceptional cases.
Confluence plans and pricing

Your consumer rights in Canada
Canadian consumer protection laws vary by province and may include certain cooling‑off or disclosure requirements for consumer contracts. However, for Confluence subscriptions Atlassian’s published refund and cancellation terms are the operative contractual terms: monthly refunds only within the first paid month and annual refunds only within 30 days. There is no automatic 14‑day statutory right to a refund for Confluence subscriptions under Atlassian’s policy; if you believe provincial consumer protection rules apply to your situation, you may wish to seek local legal or consumer‑protection guidance, but contact Atlassian Support first to discuss eligibility under their published policy.
Customer experiences
Users in Canada commonly praise Confluence for its ease of use for documentation, strong collaboration features, good integrations (especially with Jira), and effective versioning and centralization of team knowledge. At the same time, reviewers frequently report challenges with search quality and performance in very large instances, navigation and UI clutter, and occasional frustrations with the cloud WYSIWYG editor and table formatting. Overall, many teams find the collaboration and integration benefits outweigh the usability and scaling drawbacks, but large-scale deployments often require dedicated administration and governance to maintain performance and organization.
Documentation checklist
- Confirm administrator access and billing owner; record current billing period and renewal date.
- Export any spaces, pages and attachments you need (use Confluence export tools) and download invoices/receipts for accounting.
- List installed apps/integrations and export their data where possible; notify users and stakeholders of the planned cancellation date.
- Save contact details for Atlassian Support and, if you plan to send termination notices by mail, prepare a physical notice (see address below).
Common mistakes
One frequent error is assuming cancellation is processed immediately; with Atlassian’s admin flow the subscription remains active until the scheduled effective date and no prorated refund is issued. Another mistake is not exporting data before the subscription ends or not confirming the retention policy for your plan, which can lead to data being inaccessible after termination. Non‑administrators attempting to cancel via the user app or app stores also causes confusion - subscription management is via the Atlassian admin portal or Support, not the mobile app stores.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Web (Atlassian admin portal) | No prorated refunds; refunds only within first paid month (monthly) or within 30 days (annual) | Low - admin action in admin.atlassian.com |
| App Store / Google Play | Not applicable - subscription management handled by Atlassian billing (use admin portal) | Medium - users may be confused; management not available in app store |
| Contact Atlassian Support | Same refund windows apply; Support can request immediate cancellation or assist with special cases | Low - Medium - Support can help, may require verification |
After cancelling
After you schedule or complete cancellation, ensure you have exported necessary content and retained invoices for your records. If you need to reverse a scheduled cancellation, sign into admin.atlassian.com to undo it while it is still pending, or contact Atlassian Support for help. For Atlassian’s official cancellation instructions see Cancel a subscription. For refund eligibility details, review Atlassian’s billing and refund guidance or open a support case referencing your invoice and payment date.
Address
If you must send a physical termination or legal notice under the Atlassian Customer Agreement, send it by registered mail (recommended) to: Atlassian, 350 Bush Street, Floor 13, San Francisco, CA 94104, USA. Keep proof of posting and tracking information for your records.
