Cancellation Jobscan: Easy Method
What is Jobscan
Jobscan is an online service that helps job seekers optimize resumes and LinkedIn profiles by comparing them to job descriptions and recommending keyword and format changes. It offers a Free Membership tier and paid Premium access with additional features such as unlimited scans, ATS-friendly formatting suggestions, and advanced resume analysis.
How to cancel Jobscan
- Web (direct via Jobscan site): Sign in, go to your Account Details page, and click the “Cancel Plan” button. Your account is downgraded to Free Membership at the end of the current billing period; no automatic refunds are issued. Cancel during a free trial to avoid being charged.
- App Store / Google Play: Subscriptions purchased through Apple or Google are managed via their subscription systems. Open your Apple ID or Google Play subscriptions page and cancel from there; for refunds, follow Apple’s or Google Play’s refund procedures.
- Email support (refund requests): If you believe you qualify for a refund under Jobscan’s discretionary policy, email support@jobscan.co with the subject “Refund Request” and the required details (see Documentation checklist below).
What happens when you cancel
When you cancel a paid Jobscan Premium plan purchased directly on the Jobscan website, the subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period and is then downgraded to the Free Membership tier. You retain access to Free features after the downgrade. Jobscan’s cancellation process does not automatically issue refunds; any refund must be requested and is handled under their cancellation policy. Your account data and scans typically remain available on the Free plan according to Jobscan’s data and account retention practices.
Will I get a refund?
Jobscan’s policy states refunds are considered only if requested within 2 calendar days of a billing cycle’s start and only if you have not used the service during that billing period. If a refund is granted, a 3.5% processing fee of the original payment will be deducted. Refunds are discretionary and handled case-by-case by contacting support@jobscan.co with the subject “Refund Request.” Jobscan does not provide a 14-day statutory refund by default; their published rules limit refunds to the 2-day window. For the official policy, see the Jobscan cancellation page: Jobscan cancellation policy.
Jobscan plans and pricing
| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Free Membership | $0 |
| Premium (monthly / annual) | Varies |
| Free trial (limited) | Free for trial period |
Your consumer rights in Canada
Jobscan’s published refund terms are narrower than some statutory consumer protections. In Canada, consumer protections vary by province and may provide additional remedies for digital subscriptions or unfair business practices. If Jobscan refuses a reasonable refund request or fails to provide promised services, you may be able to escalate to your provincial consumer protection agency, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau or similar body, or dispute the charge with your card issuer, depending on local rules and the timing of the charge. Keep in mind that Jobscan’s policy requires refund requests within 2 days of the billing start and conditions refunds on non-use of the service during that billing period, so act quickly if you believe you qualify.
Customer experiences
Public reviews are mixed. Many reviewers on Trustpilot praise Jobscan for being user-friendly, improving match rates, and helping users secure interviews and offers. Other reviewers, including some in Canada, report problems such as being charged after a trial without clear notification, difficulty obtaining refunds, billing persisting despite cancellation attempts, clunky or error-prone UI, and slow or unhelpful support responses. These disparate experiences suggest cancellation and refund outcomes can vary by individual circumstances and timing.
Documentation checklist
- Account email used to subscribe, subscription start/billing date, last 4 digits of the card used (or payment receipt), screenshots of billing or subscription status, description of the issue or reason for refund request, and any correspondence with support. Include “Refund Request” in the email subject when contacting support@jobscan.co.
Common mistakes
Common mistakes include waiting too long to request a refund (Jobscan limits refunds to within 2 calendar days of a billing start), assuming cancellation in the app store and on Jobscan’s website are the same (Apple/Google-managed subscriptions must be cancelled through their systems), and not capturing or submitting transaction details and screenshots when requesting a refund. Another frequent issue is believing cancellation auto-issues a refund - Jobscan downgrades the plan at period end but does not routinely refund charges unless you meet the narrow refund criteria.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Web (direct via Jobscan site) | Refunds discretionary within 2 days if unused; 3.5% fee may apply | Low to moderate (cancelling is easy; refunds are limited) |
| App Store / Google Play | Refunds handled by Apple or Google according to their rules | Moderate (must follow Apple/Google procedures and timelines) |
| Email support to Jobscan | Same discretionary policy as web; include required details for consideration | Moderate to high (case-by-case review; outcomes not guaranteed) |
After cancelling
After you cancel, confirm the downgrade date and keep copies of confirmation screens or emails. If you expect a refund, submit a prompt request to support@jobscan.co with the documentation checklist above and the subject line “Refund Request.” For the published help steps, see Jobscan’s support article on cancellation: How do I cancel my account? and the cancellation policy at Jobscan cancellation policy.
