Cancellation Loox: Easy Method
What is Loox
Loox is a customer review and photo-review platform commonly used by Shopify stores to collect, display and manage product reviews with visual content. It provides widgets for showing reviews on storefronts, automated review requests, and integrations for marketing channels like Google Shopping and Meta Shops.
Merchants use Loox to increase social proof through photo and video reviews, referral features, and AI-driven review tools on higher plans.
How to cancel Loox
- Check your subscription source: determine whether the charge is managed directly by Loox (Loox/Stripe/PayPal) or via Shopify app billing in your Shopify admin.
- If Loox-billed: sign in to your Loox dashboard, go to Account or Billing, and select Cancel Subscription. Save any cancellation confirmation or ticket number.
- If billed via Shopify: in Shopify admin go to Apps, find Loox and either cancel the app subscription or uninstall the app; then confirm the app charge is removed in Shopify Billing.
- Contact Loox support by email or support ticket to request confirmation of cancellation and ask for account termination if desired; keep copies of all correspondence.
- If you want a formal, certified cancellation notice, send a registered/certified letter (raccomandata A/R) to the Canada address below and retain tracking/return receipt as proof.
- After cancelling, check your payment method and billing statements for ongoing charges and follow up immediately if billing continues.
What happens when you cancel
When you cancel your Loox subscription, access to paid features will typically stop at the end of your current billing period. Your storefront widgets may revert to a free tier or become inactive depending on the plan and whether Loox offers a free plan option.
Loox's retention of review content and account data varies by their policies; in many cases review data remains available for a period and can be restored if you re-subscribe, but permanent deletion may occur after an extended inactive period. Always export or back up important data before cancelling if you want to retain it.
Will I get a refund?
Refunds are generally handled according to Loox's billing policy and the payment processor used. Many SaaS providers do not automatically refund partial months after cancellation, but exceptions may be made for billing errors, unauthorized charges, or at the provider's discretion. Payment processor fees (exchange fees or transaction fees) are often non-refundable.
If you believe you are owed a refund, contact Loox support with order IDs and receipts and, if necessary, contact your bank or card issuer to dispute unauthorized or incorrect charges. Keep in mind Canadian consumer protections and chargeback options may apply in some cases.

Your consumer rights in Canada
Under Canadian consumer protection frameworks, you have the right to truthful billing, a clear cancellation process, and a receipt or written confirmation of cancellations. Provincial consumer protection laws differ, but generally you can dispute unauthorized or incorrect charges with your payment provider or financial institution.
If a merchant (or service) fails to honour an agreed cancellation or refunds policy, you can file a complaint with provincial consumer protection offices, contact the Competition Bureau for deceptive practices concerns, or use your bank's dispute/chargeback process for credit card transactions. This is general information and not legal advice.
Customer experiences
Many merchants report Loox is effective at collecting photo and video reviews and that the widgets and integrations help increase conversion. Positive feedback often cites ease of use for review collection and attractive front-end displays.
On the other hand, common negative experiences relate to billing confusion (not knowing whether cancellation must be done in Loox or in Shopify), occasional delays in support response, and uncertainty about data retention after cancellation. Experiences vary by account and support interactions.
Documentation checklist
- Account email and store name used with Loox
- Subscription or invoice numbers and recent billing receipts
- Screenshots of billing entries showing the charge
- Support ticket IDs and copies of correspondence with Loox
- Order IDs or transaction IDs from your payment processor
- Tracking number and return receipt if you send a certified/courier letter
Common mistakes
One frequent mistake is assuming that uninstalling the Loox app from Shopify automatically cancels the subscription; depending on your billing arrangement this may not stop charges. Example: uninstalling the app while the subscription remains active with Loox or a third-party processor can result in continued billing.
Another common error is not saving a confirmation of cancellation. If you do not retain an email confirmation, ticket ID, or mailed return receipt, it is harder to prove the cancellation date in disputes. Sending a regular (non-certified) letter and not following up is another pitfall when a formal record is needed.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Cancel in Loox dashboard | Possible in special cases; typically handled case-by-case | Low |
| Uninstall from Shopify (Apps) | Unlikely to trigger refund; may not stop non-Shopify billing | Low |
| Contact support / Email / Certified letter | Possible if billing error or formal dispute; stronger evidence with certified letter | Medium - High |
After cancelling
After you cancel, monitor your payment method and bank statements for any further charges and follow up immediately if charges persist. Export and preserve any review data or reports you need before access ends. If you require assistance, open a support ticket with Loox and keep the ticket ID.
Helpful resources: Loox support articles and the Shopify app billing documentation can explain where charges originate; for disputes or deceptive practices consult Canadian consumer protection authorities or your card issuer.
