Cancellation Resumelab: Step-by-Step
What is Resumelab
Resumelab is an online resume and cover letter builder that provides templates, formatting tools and downloadable files to help users create or improve job application documents. It is typically offered via web subscriptions and may include recurring billing for premium features and downloads.
How to cancel Resumelab
- Sign in to your Resumelab account and look for a “Subscriptions,” “Billing,” or “Account” section. If an online cancel option is available, follow the on-screen steps and save confirmation. If you cannot cancel online, contact support by email or the in-site contact form and request cancellation, providing your account email and order number. For subscriptions purchased through Apple or Google, open the respective App Store or Google Play subscription settings and cancel there. To cancel by post (as allowed by the Terms, section 28), send a registered letter with return receipt requested (A/R) to BOLD LLC at the address below; include a clear statement that you are cancelling the Resumelab subscription, your account details, order/reference number, and the date you request cancellation. Keep proof of delivery and any reply for your records.
What happens when you cancel
After cancellation, future recurring billing should stop at the end of the current paid period; you will typically retain access to any premium features until that period ends. Some services may immediately restrict access for trial or promotional accounts - check the cancellation confirmation for timing. Your account data (resumes, templates, profile) may be retained by Resumelab for a limited period under their data retention policy; if you want your data removed, request account deletion explicitly and ask for confirmation. Always export or backup resumes and files before cancelling to avoid accidental loss.
Will I get a refund?
Refund policies vary by plan, purchase method and timing. Many subscription services do not issue refunds for partially used subscription periods but may offer refunds in cases of service defects, unauthorized charges or where required by law. If you believe you qualify for a refund (e.g., service not delivered, technical failure, or unauthorized payment), contact Resumelab support promptly and provide proof such as order numbers, receipts and screenshots. If Resumelab declines and you paid by credit card, you may be able to dispute the charge with your card issuer. Note that purchases via app stores are often governed by the store’s refund policy.
Resumelab plans and pricing
| Plan | Price | Billing | Typical features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Varies | Varies | Basic templates, limited downloads |
| Premium | Varies | Varies (monthly/annual) | Full template library, export formats, priority support |
| Pro / Career | Varies | Varies | Advanced templates, customization tools, cover letters |
Your consumer rights in Canada
Canadian consumers are protected by federal and provincial laws against unfair business practices and deceptive marketing. There is no single nationwide automatic refund period for digital subscriptions, but you have rights if a service is materially different from what was advertised, if charges were unauthorized, or if cancellation terms were not clearly disclosed. Provincial consumer protection agencies handle complaints and can provide guidance specific to your province. For recurring charges, merchants must clearly disclose renewal terms and provide an easy way to cancel; if not, you can complain to your provincial regulator or the Competition Bureau for misleading practices.
Customer experiences
User experiences with resume builders like Resumelab are mixed. Many customers praise the convenience, time savings and pre-formatted templates that help create professional-looking resumes quickly. Common frustrations include unclear automatic renewal notices, difficulty locating and executing cancellation steps, and delays in receiving refunds or support responses. Experiences vary by how the subscription was purchased (direct vs. app store) and how promptly the user documents communications.
Documentation checklist
- Account email and username
- Order number or invoice/receipt
- Payment method and transaction date
- Screenshot of subscription details or billing page
- Copy of cancellation request (email or text) and any replies
- Proof of delivery (tracking number / return receipt) if cancelling by post
Common mistakes
Users frequently assume deleting the app or account automatically cancels billing; in many cases billing continues until you cancel the subscription itself. Another common error is missing the cancellation deadline for a free trial or renewal period, which can trigger immediate charges. People sometimes contact the wrong party - if you subscribed through Apple or Google you must cancel through the App Store or Play Store. Failing to keep confirmation or proof (screenshots, return receipt) makes disputes harder to resolve.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Online account cancellation | Possible, depends on timing and policy | Low |
| Email / support ticket | Possible; may require follow-up | Medium |
| Registered mail to company address | Possible; strong legal proof of notice | Medium |
| App Store (Apple / Google) | Subject to store refund rules | Low to Medium |
| Payment dispute / chargeback | Possible if unauthorized or unresolved | High |
After cancelling
After you cancel, save the cancellation confirmation and monitor your bank or card statements for any unexpected future charges. If charges continue, contact support again, escalate to the payment provider, and file a dispute if necessary. If you need help from Canadian authorities, your provincial consumer protection office can advise on next steps. For technical issues exporting documents after cancellation, contact Resumelab support immediately and request temporary access if needed.
