Cancellation Serato: Easy Method
What is Serato
Serato is a company that develops DJ and music-production software used by DJs and producers worldwide. Its products include Serato DJ Pro, various one‑time expansion packs, and related software sold directly and via app marketplaces.
Serato sells lifetime licenses and subscriptions, and publishes its terms of sale and EULA on its website. Cancellation and refund details are set out in those terms but may interact with local consumer laws.
How to cancel Serato
-
On the web (via Serato Account): Log into your Serato Account, find your active subscription or license entry and select the cancel option before the next renewal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle; you keep access until then. See Serato’s Terms of Sale at serato.com/legal/terms-of-sale for policy details.
-
App Store (iOS): If you purchased via Apple in‑app purchase, cancel through your Apple ID Subscriptions settings or contact Apple Support - Serato’s Terms of Sale do not separately specify App Store cancellations and Apple’s in‑app purchase rules generally apply. For Apple refund requests see Apple Support.
-
Google Play (Android): If you purchased via Google Play, cancel or request refunds through your Google Play account or Google Support. Serato’s terms defer to marketplace policies for in‑app purchases. For Google Play refund guidance see Google Play Help.
-
Postal or written requests: For privacy or formal cancellation notices you can mail Serato at the company address (see Address section). If you send registered mail, consider requesting a return receipt to confirm delivery.
What happens when you cancel
When you cancel a Serato subscription via your Serato Account, the cancellation is recorded immediately but the subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to the paid features through that date; after that the subscription will not renew and access ends.
For purchases made through Apple or Google, the marketplace’s cancellation and access rules apply (for example, Apple and Google generally control billing and renewals for in‑app subscriptions). One‑time lifetime licenses remain tied to the account or license key and are not “cancelled” in the same way as subscriptions.
Will I get a refund?
Serato states it does not provide refunds for purchases or subscriptions except where required by applicable law. Remedies for faulty products (repair, replacement, or refund) are addressed in accordance with laws such as the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act and other applicable consumer protection regimes. If you disagree with the EULA and have not used the product, Serato may at its discretion accept a return and refund provided the product is deactivated.
Whether you are eligible for a refund in Canada will depend on applicable provincial and federal consumer protection rules; Serato’s “no refunds” wording does not necessarily override statutory rights in Canada.

Your consumer rights in Canada
Canadian consumer protection laws (including provincial statutes such as Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act and British Columbia’s Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act) generally provide remedies for goods and digital products that are defective or not as described. These statutory rights can apply even if a seller’s stated policy says “no refunds.”
A 14‑day cooling‑off right that applies in some jurisdictions for distance sales may not automatically apply to downloaded or streamed digital content in Canada unless the consumer did not clearly consent to waive that right. Serato’s terms advise using free trials where available and state that remedies for faulty products will be provided in accordance with applicable law.
Customer experiences
Public reviews are mixed. Some long‑term users praise Serato’s core software stability and call it among the best DJ mixing software. For example, a reviewer on Trustpilot described Serato as “the best mixing software” and reported consistent positive use since 2013.
Other reviewers report problems with customer support responsiveness, delays or lack of resolution for support tickets, and licensing recognition issues when changing hardware. Several negative accounts on review sites describe long wait times and unresolved issues that led users to seek alternative software or request refunds through marketplaces.
Documentation checklist
- Account email and Serato account username
- Order number, invoice or receipt (from Serato, Apple, or Google Play)
- Date of purchase and payment method used
- License serial key or activation details (if applicable)
- Device details and software version where the issue occurs
- Screenshots or error messages, and any support ticket numbers
- Record of communications with Serato or marketplace support
Common mistakes
Waiting until after a subscription auto‑renews is a common mistake; cancellation must be completed before the renewal date to prevent the next charge. Another frequent error is trying to cancel a purchase made through Apple or Google via Serato’s web account - marketplace purchases must be handled through the App Store or Google Play.
For EULA‑related return requests, customers sometimes forget to deactivate the product before requesting a refund; Serato may require deactivation for a return to be accepted. Finally, failing to keep receipts or order confirmations can slow support and refund processes.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Web (Serato Account) | No refunds stated by Serato except where required by law; remedies for faulty products may apply. | Low - cancel online before renewal; managing statutory refund requests may require more steps. |
| App Store (iOS) | Refunds handled by Apple under Apple’s policies; Serato’s terms defer to marketplace rules. | Medium - cancel via Apple ID; refund requests go through Apple Support. |
| Google Play (Android) | Refunds handled by Google Play under Google’s policies; Serato defers to marketplace rules. | Medium - cancel or request refund via Google Play account or support. |
After cancelling
After you cancel, keep your confirmation or cancellation screenshot and monitor your account to ensure the subscription does not renew. If you believe you are entitled to a refund under Canadian consumer protection laws or due to a faulty product, raise the issue with Serato support and, if needed, with the marketplace (Apple or Google) where the purchase was made. Refer to Serato’s Terms of Sale at serato.com/legal/terms-of-sale and Serato Support at serato.com/support.
For refunds or cancellations purchased through marketplaces see Apple Support (Apple refund & subscription help) and Google Play Help (Google Play refund policy).
