Cancel Pocketsmith: Easy Method
What is Pocketsmith
Overview
PocketSmith is a personal finance and budgeting service that helps users track accounts, forecast cashflow and manage budgets over time.
It is offered as a web app with optional mobile apps and separate legacy subscriptions sold via Apple’s App Store or Google Play.
Main features
Key features include bank feeds, automatic/manual transaction importing, categorisation, budgets and long-term projections.
Feature availability depends on the plan and how you subscribed (web direct vs App Store/Google Play).
How to cancel Pocketsmith
If you subscribed via Apple App Store
- Open the App Store on your Apple device and go to your account subscriptions.
- Locate the PocketSmith subscription and choose Cancel Subscription through Apple.
- PocketSmith cannot cancel or refund App Store purchases; cancellations and refunds are managed by Apple. See PocketSmith guidance on App Store subscriptions.
If you subscribed via Google Play
- Open Google Play on your device, go to Subscriptions and select PocketSmith.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts to stop renewals.
- PocketSmith cannot cancel or refund Google Play purchases; use Google Play’s cancellation and refund processes. See Google Play purchase guidance.
If you subscribed directly via the PocketSmith web app
- Sign in at the PocketSmith website on the web (not the mobile app).
- Go to your profile and open Subscription & Billing to manage or cancel your subscription.
- Account deletions also must be done via the web app; the mobile app cannot handle cancellations or deletions. See how to delete your account.
What happens when you cancel
Access and service period
When you cancel, your paid access typically continues until the end of the current billing period.
There is no immediate loss of access unless otherwise specified by the payment provider.
Renewal and billing
- Cancelling stops automatic renewal; you keep access for the time you’ve already paid for.
- Subscriptions via Apple or Google follow those stores’ renewal and billing rules; PocketSmith cannot override them.
Data retention and deletion
Downgrading or cancelling does not automatically delete your data from PocketSmith servers.
If you want all data removed you must delete your PocketSmith account via the web app; see account deletion details.
Will I get a refund?
14-day refund policy
PocketSmith offers a full refund if you cancel within 14 days of purchase for monthly subscriptions.
Contact PocketSmith support to request a refund within that period. See refund guidance.
Quarterly and annual subscriptions
- For quarterly or annual subscriptions, after the initial 14 days you may request refunds for remaining full months at PocketSmith’s discretion.
- Refunds outside the 14-day window are discretionary and considered on a case-by-case basis.
Exceptions and third-party purchases
Subscriptions purchased through Apple’s App Store or Google Play are governed by those stores’ refund policies.
PocketSmith cannot process refunds for purchases made via App Store or Google Play; contact Apple or Google to request those refunds.
Pocketsmith plans and pricing
Legacy App Store plans
Legacy iOS plans are labelled Premium and Super in the App Store and show NZD monthly prices.

Your consumer rights in New Zealand
14-day cooling-off and refunds
New Zealand consumers have a 14-day period that commonly applies for online service purchases and refunds.
PocketSmith aligns with this by offering refunds within 14 days, although some refunds are discretionary beyond that period.
Consumer Guarantees and service expectations
- The Consumer Guarantees Act covers major failures and reasonable service expectations for purchases in New Zealand.
- If a service has a major failure you may have rights to remedies under NZ law; discuss this with PocketSmith support if relevant.
Third-party store purchases
Purchases made through Apple’s App Store or Google Play are governed by Apple’s or Google’s terms and refund processes.
PocketSmith cannot override the policies of Apple or Google for those purchases.
Customer experiences
Positive feedback
- Users praise forecasting, recurring transaction features and long-term projections as useful budgeting tools. See reviews on Trustpilot NZ.
- Many long-time users find bank feed syncing and dashboards valuable for managing complex finances.
Common complaints
- Concerns about privacy and data integrity have been raised, including reports of unwanted data changes.
- Mobile apps are sometimes described as incomplete or buggy, with balance discrepancies and sync issues.
- Users report slow support response and challenges when setting up complex or cross-border accounts.
Documentation checklist
Before contacting PocketSmith support
- Subscription purchase receipt or invoice (include date and payment method).
- Account email address and username used with PocketSmith.
- Evidence of purchase route: App Store, Google Play or web (screenshots or receipts).
If requesting a refund or deletion
- Transaction ID or last payment date and amount.
- Clear statement of request (refund, cancellation, or account deletion) and reason.
- Screenshot of subscription settings or App Store/Google Play subscription page, if applicable.
Common mistakes
Cancelling in the wrong place
Many users try to cancel inside the mobile app when the subscription was purchased via Apple or Google.
Remember: App Store and Google Play subscriptions must be cancelled through those stores, not the PocketSmith mobile app.
Expecting immediate refunds or termination
Expect that cancellation generally stops future billing but access continues until the paid period ends.
Refund requests can take time and are subject to PocketSmith’s and the store’s policies; don’t assume instant reversal.
Not keeping documentation
Failing to save receipts, screenshots or transaction IDs makes refund or dispute requests harder to process.
Capture and keep receipts and subscription screenshots before cancelling when possible.
Comparative recap
At a glance
