Cancellation Bigpay: Easy Method

What is Bigpay

Overview

BigPay is a digital wallet and prepaid card service operating in Singapore that lets users top up, pay, and transfer money globally. It issues virtual and physical cards and provides currency conversion and other payment features.

Core services

Services include card issuance, in-app account management, Stashes (wallet balances), and international transfers. BigPay charges transaction-specific fees rather than a recurring subscription fee for standard accounts.

How to cancel Bigpay

Cancel via In‑App Help Chat

  • Open the BigPay app and tap the icon at the top left.
  • Select Get Help → Chat with us and request account cancellation.
  • Ensure you have moved any Stashes balance out of the account before requesting cancellation.
  • After the agent confirms cancellation, your virtual and/or physical card will be terminated.

Cancel by Email or Written Notice

  • Send a written cancellation request or email to BigPay requesting account termination.
  • BigPay may request confirmation of your mailing address; provide it promptly.
  • Once received, BigPay will terminate your card and process refunds of any remaining balances (less applicable fees) within 14 business days.

What happens when you cancel

Account access and transaction ability

After cancellation you can still log in to the app to view past transaction history. You cannot top up, make transactions, or use the card after cancellation.

Card termination and data retention

BigPay will terminate virtual and physical cards associated with the account. Personal details are retained for up to 5 years to meet MAS regulatory requirements.

Will I get a refund?

Merchant‑initiated refunds

If a merchant processes a refund or reversal, the credited amount should appear in your BigPay app. Refund timing depends on the merchant and can take 1 - 14 working days (excluding weekends and public holidays).

Refunds after account closure

  • Remaining balances in SGD are refunded (less any applicable fees) via cheque or bank deposit within 14 business days after cancellation, once unsettled transactions are cleared.
  • You must submit a valid mailing address within 7 days of your cancellation request for cheque refunds or deposit details.
  • No automatic statutory cooling‑off refund is provided; refunds are only as described above or if initiated by merchants.

Your consumer rights in Singapore

General rights and limits

There is no explicit statutory 14‑day cooling‑off or automatic refund right set out in BigPay’s published policies. Refunds only arise from merchant refunds or BigPay’s cancellation/balance refund provisions.

Dispute escalation

  • Disputes or reversal requests are handled at BigPay’s discretion and timelines depend on merchant or internal processes.
  • If you are not satisfied, escalate via in‑app chat or email support first; if unresolved, consider filing a complaint with MAS or other consumer protection bodies.

Customer experiences

Positive signals

Aggregate analysis found around 47.9% positive user experience, indicating many users have satisfactory interactions and see the app as legitimate and generally safe.

Negative feedback

Other reviews highlight consistent issues: Trustpilot reviews show multiple 1‑star reports about flagged transfers, aggressive documentation requests, and poor dispute handling.

App Store and Play Store feedback notes slow or unhelpful customer service, app instability, missing features (e.g., Apple Pay), low top‑up limits, and intermittent in‑app chat disconnects.

Documentation checklist

Before requesting cancellation

  • ID used for account verification (NRIC/Passport as applicable).
  • Confirmation that you have transferred out any Stashes balance.
  • Transaction details for any pending disputes or refunds you want reviewed.

For refunds or written notices

  • Valid mailing address for cheque refunds or proof of bank account for deposit.
  • Copy of the written cancellation request or email correspondence.
  • Any reference numbers from prior support chats or case IDs.

Common mistakes

Not clearing balances first

Users sometimes request cancellation without transferring Stashes or clearing balances. This can delay refunds and card termination processing.

Missing mailing address or proof

Failing to provide or confirm a mailing address within required timeframes can delay or prevent refund issuance by cheque or deposit.
