Cancellation Rci: Easy Method
What is Rci
Overview
RCI (Resort Condominiums International) is a global vacation exchange service that lets timeshare owners trade or book stays at other resorts and travel products through a subscription model.
Members use points, weeks or membership access to confirm exchanges, rentals and occasional cruise products via RCI’s network.
How it operates in the region
RCI Asia‑Pacific manages regional memberships, renewals and reservation services, often via affiliated club partners and local offices.
Terms, fees and cancellation rules are set by RCI and by the booking type (rental, exchange, cruise or membership). See RCI terms for details.
How to cancel Rci
Cancel a reservation (rental or exchange)
- Identify the booking type (rental reservation, exchange booking, cruise) and the reservation reference or Points/Week details.
- Contact RCI or your booking agent as soon as possible by phone or the channel used to make the booking.
- Ask the agent to confirm the cancellation window and the refund amount or points return based on the booking date.
Cancel membership or other services
- Review your membership contract for notice requirements and any cancellation fees before submitting a request.
- Provide written notice if required by your agreement and retain proof (email, certified mail, or recorded delivery).
- Follow up to obtain written confirmation of termination and any refund calculation or forfeiture of fees.
What happens when you cancel
Access and account effects
When you cancel a reservation, access to the booked accommodation ends and any returned Points are processed per RCI policy.
If you cancel membership, access to RCI exchange services ends at the termination date specified in the confirmation.
Pending bookings and deposited time
Future confirmed exchanges or rentals may be canceled without refund depending on terms; deposited weeks or Points may be retained, converted or forfeited per your contract.
Older termination clauses can include conversion of deposited time into vouchers rather than cash refunds; check your specific contract.
Will I get a refund?
General refund rules
Refunds depend on the booking type and cancellation timing. RCI uses tiered refund schedules for rentals and exchanges rather than a universal cooling‑off refund.
RCI’s general terms also limit liability and may exclude refunds for certain disruptions or force majeure events.
Key refund examples and exceptions
- Rental reservations: cancelling ≥91 days before travel typically yields a 100% refund of the rental fee (minus booking fee); cancelling 61 - 90 days typically yields 50% (minus booking fee).
- Exchange bookings (as described in RCI guidance): cancelling ≥90 days before start date normally returns 100% of reserved Points; 89 - 46 days returns 75%; 45 - 30 days returns 50%; ≤29 days returns 25% of Points.
- Exchange Protection: if you added this option when booking, you may cancel for any reason up to 14 days before check‑in and receive a refund of the exchange fee with Points restored.
- Cruise bookings: refunds are subject to the cruise provider’s own cancellation terms; refundable cruise bookings can lead to returned RCI exchange currency less provider fees.
For official contractual language, consult RCI’s published terms.

Your consumer rights in Singapore
Cooling‑off and direct sales
Singapore’s Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act (CPFTA) provides a 7‑day cooling‑off right for certain unsolicited direct‑seller contracts, but application to timeshare schemes can be limited.
Whether a timeshare or membership contract qualifies depends on how the sale was made and the specific contract terms; review the CPFTA criteria for direct selling.
Dispute options and evidence
- Keep all written contracts, receipts and correspondence for any dispute with RCI or a reseller.
- If necessary, bring complaints to Singapore consumer bodies or consider legal advice focused on contract/consumer law.
Customer experiences
Positive feedback highlights
Some recent reviewers praise specific services such as cruise arrangements and helpful agents, noting improved service in recent years.
Positive reports often reference good cabin locations on cruises and useful exchanges for timeshare owners.
Common complaints
- Reports include concerns about aggressive sales tactics, hidden fees, difficulties cancelling or exiting contracts, and perceived poor value.
- Online reviews and forum posts cite forfeited fees on cancellation, booking restrictions and occasional scam attempts impersonating RCI representatives - exercise caution.
For a range of reviews, search verified review sources and RCI help pages.
Documentation checklist
Before you call or write
- Reservation reference, booking date, property name and travel dates.
- Membership number, Points or Week identifiers and transaction receipts.
- Proof of payment for booking fees, exchange fees and any added protection options.
When you submit cancellation
- Copy of the written cancellation request or email sent with date/time stamped.
- Confirmation of cancellation from RCI (save screenshots or PDFs) and any refund calculation.
- If applicable, proof of purchase of Exchange Protection or other add‑ons.
Common mistakes
Waiting too long to cancel
A frequent mistake is delaying cancellation past the refund window and losing the eligible refund percentage or Points recovery.
Always check the precise day thresholds for your booking type when you first book.
Not keeping written proof
Relying only on verbal confirmations can cause disputes later; always get cancellation confirmations in writing and keep receipts.
Also verify whether you paid for Exchange Protection or similar options at booking, as they affect refund rights.
