Cancellation Splice: Easy Method
What is Splice
Splice is a cloud-based music creation platform that provides sample libraries, instrument presets, collaboration tools, and subscription plans for accessing sounds and software. It offers subscriptions through its website and via mobile app stores and combines a rent-to-own model for certain software with monthly or annual access to sample credits and premium content.
How to cancel Splice
- App Store (iOS) - Open Subscriptions on your iOS device, tap Splice, then tap “Cancel Subscription” or “Cancel Free Trial.” You must cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. Apple manages cancellation and refunds for App Store purchases.
- Google Play Store (Android) - Open Google Play, go to Subscriptions, select Splice, and tap “Cancel subscription.” You must cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. Google handles cancellation and refunds for Play Store purchases.
- Web (Splice site) - Log into your Splice account, open the Plans page, select the active plan and click “cancel subscription.” You will be asked to select a reason; the plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.
- Pausing a subscription (Web) - Monthly plans may be paused for 1 - 2 months from the Plans page instead of being cancelled; the pause begins after the current billing period. Annual plans cannot be paused.
What happens when you cancel
When you cancel a Splice subscription, your plan remains active for the remainder of the billing period and you retain access to features until that period ends. Any unused sample credits are subject to Splice’s expiry rules: credits expire 28 days after the final billing period unless you resubscribe. Previously downloaded content remains accessible according to Splice’s licensing, but access to sample credit downloads and premium features tied to an active plan will end once access expires.
If you cancelled via the App Store or Google Play, those platforms control the cancellation process and timing; Splice will not be able to reinstate or refund App Store/Play Store charges directly.
Will I get a refund?
For web (site) subscriptions, Splice’s general policy is that valid charges are non-refundable except where expressly provided. Refund eligibility windows for site purchases are: weekly/monthly charges within 20 days and yearly charges within 60 days, and only the most recent charge is eligible for refund under those windows. App Store purchases require refund requests to Apple; Google Play refunds are available via Google (typically within 48 hours) and, if outside Google’s window, you may contact Splice via their support channels.
Splice’s Money-Back Guarantee applies only to purchases made on the Splice website where that guarantee was presented at checkout; if eligible you may request a refund within 30 days of the initial purchase. This guarantee does not apply to App Store/Google Play purchases or to renewals after the 30-day window. Canadian users do not have a special 14-day statutory “cooling-off” right under Splice’s terms - the 14-day cooling-off provision in Splice Terms applies only to UK/EU users.
Splice plans and pricing
| Plan | Price (USD / approx. CAD) | Period | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sounds+ | USD $12.99 (approx. C$17 - 18) | Monthly | 100 sample credits per month, access to INSTRUMENT presets |
| Creator | USD $19.99 (approx. C$27 - 28) | Monthly | 200 sample credits + full access to INSTRUMENT & additional tools |
| Creator+ | USD $39.99 (approx. C$54 - 55) | Monthly | 500 sample credits + full access to INSTRUMENT & additional tools |
| INSTRUMENT only | USD $12.99 (approx. C$17 - 18) | Monthly | Unlimited access to premium INSTRUMENT presets (no sample credits) |

Your consumer rights in Canada
Under Splice’s terms, Canadian users do not receive the 14-day EU/UK “cooling-off” right; Splice’s refund and cancellation terms apply as stated in their policy. Refunds for site purchases are governed by Splice’s internal windows (20 days for shorter-term plans, 60 days for yearly) and by any Money-Back Guarantee presented at checkout. For transactions made through Apple or Google, refund rights and processes are controlled by those store operators and you must follow their procedures for refund requests.
Credits are subject to Splice’s expiry schedule (credits expire 28 days after the final billing period unless you resubscribe). If you need to provide a formal notice to Splice under their Terms, the company accepts notice by letter delivered via a nationally recognized overnight delivery service or first-class postage prepaid mail to their New York address (see Address section below).
Customer experiences
Users commonly praise Splice for its high-quality, diverse sample library, easy searching, and integration with DAWs; many reviewers also note helpful and responsive customer support and appreciate the rent-to-own software model and in-DAW auditioning. On the other hand, some users report interface bugs or navigation issues in the app, concerns that pricing may be high relative to occasional use, and anecdotal complaints about the handling or loss of credits after cancellation. These experiences vary by user and by how subscriptions were purchased (web vs. app store).
Documentation checklist
- Account email and username
- Subscription confirmation or welcome email
- Payment receipt or billing statement showing the charge and date
- Screenshots or copies of the cancellation confirmation (web or app)
- If purchased via app store: App Store/Google Play purchase receipt
- If claiming Money-Back Guarantee: proof that guarantee was offered at checkout
Common mistakes
Many cancellations fail when users miss the 24-hour cutoff for App Store/Google Play renewals and are subsequently charged for another period. Another frequent error is assuming refunds for app-store purchases can be issued directly by Splice - Apple and Google manage those refunds. Users sometimes expect credits to remain indefinitely after cancellation; in reality credits expire 28 days after the final billing period unless you resubscribe. Attempting to pause an annual plan (not allowed) or cancelling without saving receipts or confirmation emails can complicate later refund or support requests.
Comparative recap
| Method | Refund | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| App Store (iOS) | Refunds handled by Apple (request via Apple Support) | Easy to cancel on-device; refund dependent on Apple |
| Google Play (Android) | Refunds handled by Google (best within 48 hours; otherwise contact Splice) | Easy to cancel in Play Store; refund dependent on Google |
| Web (Splice site) | Refunds per Splice policy (20-day window for short plans, 60 days for yearly; Money-Back Guarantee if offered at checkout) | Moderate - cancel via Plans page; Splice can process eligible refunds |
| Pause (Web, monthly only) | Not a refund - preserves subscription without refund | Easy for monthly plans; not available for annual plans |
| Letter (postal/overnight notice) | Notice method only - refunds per policy | Moderate - formal but slower delivery and processing |
After cancelling
After you cancel, keep copies of your cancellation confirmation and receipts until any potential refund or dispute is resolved. If you purchased via the App Store or Google Play and need a refund, start with Apple or Google support pages. For web purchases or questions about credits and refunds, contact Splice support and refer to the Refund Policy and Money-Back Guarantee if applicable.
