Cancellation Backblaze: Easy Method
What is Backblaze
Service overview
Backblaze is a cloud backup and storage service that offers continuous backup for personal computers and attached external drives. It focuses on simplicity and unlimited personal backup for data protection.
Primary features
Key features include background backups, web access to files, and paid options for physical USB restores. Backblaze also offers business and B2 cloud-storage products.
How to cancel Backblaze
Cancel Personal Online Backup on the website
- Sign in to your Backblaze account on the Backblaze website.
- For each backed-up computer, open Preferences (in the app) and choose Delete Backup to remove that computer's backup data.
- After deleting backups, go to Overview in your Backblaze account and choose Delete License to remove the computer license; billing stops only after deleting the license.
- Support cannot cancel your subscription for you - the deletion steps above must be done by the account holder.
App Store / Google Play notes
- There is no in-app or store-based cancellation that stops Backblaze backups or billing.
- Cancelling via the App Store or Google Play does not stop your Backblaze subscription; you must complete the deletion process on Backblaze's website.
Further reading
- Step-by-step commentary on cancelling via Backblaze's site: Postclic: How to cancel Backblaze.
- If you use the Backblaze mobile app, remember store cancellation alone is insufficient: follow the web deletion steps above.
What happens when you cancel
Access to your data
After you delete a computer backup and license, Backblaze will no longer store new backups for that device. Existing backup data removed by you cannot be recovered by support once deleted.
Billing and renewals
Billing stops only after you delete the computer license in your account. If you leave a license active, charges may continue even if you remove the app from a device.
Physical restores and returns
If you ordered a USB restore drive and then cancel, you may return the drive under Backblaze’s return program (see refund section). Return shipping and any duties or fees remain your responsibility outside the USA.
Will I get a refund?
Monthly subscriptions
Monthly plans: Backblaze typically does not offer refunds for monthly subscriptions after they begin. Expect no refund for partial months unless explicitly offered by Backblaze.
1-year and 2-year subscriptions
1-year and 2-year plans: Backblaze allows a full-refund request if made within 30 days of subscribing. Requests after that period are generally not eligible.
USB Restore Return Refund program
- You can return a USB restore drive within 30 days of receipt for a refund of the drive cost (for example, a specified USD amount).
- Return shipping, duties, and fees for customers outside the USA (including Singapore) are the customer’s responsibility.
Backblaze plans and pricing
Where to check pricing
Backblaze publishes current plan and pricing details on its official website. Verify the latest offers, terms, and any promotions before subscribing or cancelling.

Your consumer rights in Singapore
General legal position
Under Singapore law there is generally no automatic statutory right to cancel or a mandatory refund for ongoing digital services unless the provider’s terms or a specific statute provides one.
How this applies to Backblaze
This means refunds or cancellations for services like Backblaze depend primarily on Backblaze’s published policies (for example, 30-day refunds on 1- and 2-year plans), rather than a general statutory cancellation right.
Further guidance

Customer experiences
Positive feedback
Many users praise Backblaze for straightforward large-data restores and simple setup that provides peace of mind for backups.
Examples reported by users include successful recovery of multiple terabytes after hardware failures.
Negative feedback
Common complaints include unexpected stop of backups, difficulties restoring files, slow restore speeds, and dissatisfaction with customer support responsiveness.
Several users report frustration about needing to delete backups and licenses manually to stop billing, and describe support interactions as unhelpful.
Where reviews appear
- User discussions and reports: platforms such as Trustpilot show mixed reviews: Trustpilot: Backblaze reviews.
- App listing and regional reviews: Backblaze apps on official stores may include localized feedback, e.g. the App Store Singapore listing: Backblaze B2 Explorer on App Store (SG).
Documentation checklist
Account & billing details
- Backblaze account email address and password (or recovery method).
- Payment method used and recent billing statement for reference.
Device & licence information
- Names of backed-up computers and license IDs (visible in your Backblaze account Overview).
- Dates you started subscriptions for each device.
Restore and order details
- Order number and receipt for any USB restore drive if you intend to return it.
- Any support ticket or correspondence related to backups, restores, or billing disputes.
Common mistakes
Assuming App Store / Play Store cancellation is sufficient
Users often cancel via the mobile app store and believe billing has stopped. Because Backblaze requires deleting backups and licenses on its website, store cancellation alone can leave the subscription active.
Deleting the app but not the license
Removing the Backblaze application from a computer does not delete the backup or license in your Backblaze account. Billing may continue until you delete the license through your account Overview.
Missing refund windows or return steps
Waiting longer than Backblaze’s stated refund windows (for 1- and 2-year plans or USB returns) can forfeit a refund right. Keep receipts and act within the specified 30-day windows if you want to request refunds.
