Cancellation Onedrive: Easy Method
What is Onedrive
Service overview
OneDrive is Microsoft’s cloud storage service for storing, syncing, and sharing files across devices. It integrates with Microsoft 365 apps such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
Typical uses
Users keep documents, photos and backups in OneDrive to access them from phones, tablets and PCs. A free tier (5 GB) is available, with higher limits via paid Microsoft 365 plans.
How to cancel Onedrive
Cancel via Web (Microsoft account)
Sign in to your Microsoft account and manage subscriptions to cancel recurring billing for OneDrive/Microsoft 365.
- Sign in to account.microsoft.com/services using the Microsoft account used to purchase the subscription.
- Locate your OneDrive (Microsoft 365) subscription and select "Manage".
- Choose "Cancel" or "Turn off recurring billing" and follow the on‑screen instructions.
Cancel via mobile app stores
If you bought OneDrive or Microsoft 365 through a mobile store, cancellation and refunds follow that store’s process.
- Google Play (Android): Use Google Play app or website → Subscriptions → select OneDrive/Microsoft 365 → Cancel.
- App Store (iOS): Request cancellation or refund through Apple App Store support and follow Apple’s refund process.
What happens when you cancel
Access and renewal
After cancellation, your subscription normally remains active until the end of the paid period. Auto‑renewal is stopped so you won’t be charged again at the next cycle.
Data, storage and sync
Storage reverts to the free 5 GB limit when the paid period ends. If your data exceeds the free allowance, syncing may stop and some features (including Outlook attachments or shared items) can be affected.
If you remain over the free limit for an extended period, Microsoft may delete files that exceed the free allowance after about 12 months.
Will I get a refund?
Microsoft’s general policy
Microsoft’s Services Agreement states purchases are generally final and non‑refundable unless law or specific policy says otherwise. Refunds are discretionary and must be requested within 90 days of the charge in many cases.
Platform exceptions and practical guidance
Purchases made via Apple or Google must follow those stores’ refund processes; Microsoft directs those customers to the store for refunds.
- If you cancel within an eligible refund window you may receive a refund and your account will revert to the free tier.
- Outside the refund window, cancellation typically only stops auto‑renewal and does not provide a refund - this matches common user experience.

Cooling‑off and refunds
Microsoft’s Services Agreement does not state a statutory 14‑day cooling‑off right for Singapore. Refunds are discretionary and usually require a request within 90 days of the charge if the charge was in error.
Data retention and deletion
After cancellation and the end of the paid period, storage reduces to the free 5 GB tier. If your stored data exceeds the free allowance and remains over the limit for an extended time, Microsoft may delete excess files after roughly 12 months.
Customer experiences
Positive feedback
- Integration with Microsoft apps (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and multi‑device access are frequently praised as intuitive and efficient.
- Automatic syncing, version history, and accessibility are common positive points; many users find the service reliable and good value.
Negative feedback
- Users report occasional sync issues: delays, conflicts, or files not updating correctly, especially with large or shared files.
- Limited free storage (5 GB) and interface/navigation concerns are recurring complaints among reviewers.
Documentation checklist
Before you contact support
- Your Microsoft account email (the one used to buy the subscription).
- Receipt or order number and the date of purchase or renewal charge.
- Platform used for purchase (Microsoft web, Google Play, App Store) and device details.
When requesting refunds or disputes
- Screenshot or PDF of the bank/credit card charge.
- Any cancellation confirmation emails or subscription management screenshots.
- Details of the issue (e.g., accidental purchase, duplicate charge, service fault).
Common mistakes
Not checking purchase platform
Many users try to cancel or request refunds directly from Microsoft when the purchase was made through Apple or Google. Those transactions must be handled through the App Store or Google Play refund processes.
Expecting automatic deletion or immediate changes
Cancelling does not immediately delete files nor instantly reduce storage usage. The subscription remains until the paid period ends and features continue until then.
Also, expecting a refund outside the refund window is a common error - cancellation usually only prevents future charges.
