Cancellation Dbs: Easy Method
What is Dbs
Overview
DBS is a Singapore-based bank that provides retail and corporate banking, payments, cards, insurance distribution and digital services. It serves consumers through branches, digibank online and mobile channels.
Core services
Key services include account management, payments (including PayNow), electronic direct payments (EDP/EDP+), and insurance sales through the bank. Many actions can be handled via the digibank mobile app or by visiting a branch.
How to cancel Dbs
Cancel recurring PayNow / profiles via digibank mobile
- Open digibank mobile and tap Pay & Transfer → PayNow.
- Select the PayNow profile you want to remove, choose Delete profile, then confirm the deletion.
- Note: PayNow profile removal is also possible via digibot or digibank online if available.
Cancel EDP / EDP+ (electronic direct payment)
- If the recipient has not yet cashed out, ask the recipient to reject the EDP/EDP+ request using their banking app.
- If that is not possible, visit a DBS/POSB branch to submit an indemnity form with your valid ID to request cancellation.
- Important: EDP/EDP+ can only be cancelled before the expiry date and before the recipient cashes out.
Branch and support options
- For disputes or indemnities, bring original ID and supporting documents to any DBS/POSB branch.
- For digital issues, use digibot or the digibank online portal before visiting a branch to save time.
What happens when you cancel
Access and account changes
When you cancel a PayNow profile or service link, the profile is removed from your digibank records and cannot be used for new payments. Existing standing instructions may need separate cancellation.
Renewals and recurring charges
Cancelling a profile or authorization stops future payments from that profile but does not automatically reverse past charges. For subscriptions billed by merchants, cancel the merchant subscription directly if needed.
Data and confirmation
DBS typically provides confirmation via the app or by branch acknowledgement. Keep screenshots or reference numbers for your records when you complete cancellations.
Will I get a refund?
Insurance policies
- Insurance policies (including those bought via DBS) generally have a 14-day "free look" period from receipt of the policy document.
- You can cancel within 14 days and receive a refund of premiums less any medical or administrative fees incurred.
Cashier's order and other bank instruments
- Refunds for returned or endorsed cashier's orders are at the bank's discretion and are processed less applicable costs, charges or expenses.
Duplicate transaction refunds and errors
- DBS has historically processed automatic refunds for duplicate transactions caused by system glitches (for example, in prior incidents).
- If you suspect duplicate or erroneous debits, report them promptly so the bank can investigate and apply any applicable refunds.

Your consumer rights in Singapore
Insurance cancellation rights
- Consumers have a 14‑day free look period on insurance policies from the date they receive the policy document.
- During this period you may cancel and receive premiums refunded less medical or administrative fees incurred.
Payment errors and duplicate transactions
- If duplicate charges arise from a bank or system error, banks in Singapore (including DBS historically) have processed refunds; report errors promptly.
- Keep evidence (statements, time stamps, screenshots) and submit disputes within the bank’s stated timeframes for investigations.
Customer experiences
Positive feedback
Customers have praised attentive staff who assist with fraud cases, run statements and help with claims, creating a sense of support during disputes.
Reported issues
Some customers report problems such as in‑app payment blocks (Google Play microtransactions), slow digibot responses for simple requests, and difficulties when resolving contactless wallet fraud.
Service coordination
There are reports of multi‑team handoffs and repeated explanations needed for fraud disputes involving digital wallets, which can prolong resolution times.
Documentation checklist
What to bring to a branch
- Valid Photo ID (NRIC/FIN or passport) for indemnity forms and cancellations.
- Original policy documents, cashier's order or transaction notices when requesting refunds or cancellations.
Digital information to have ready
- Screenshots of the transaction, digibank reference numbers, timestamps and the digibank profile name for PayNow/EDP actions.
- Merchant/subscription details and any communications when disputing recurring charges.
Common mistakes
Missing timing windows
Attempting to cancel EDP/EDP+ after the recipient has cashed out or after the instruction expiry will typically fail. Always check expiry and act quickly.
Incomplete evidence or incorrect channel
Not bringing required ID or policy documents to the branch, or using the wrong cancellation channel, delays outcomes. For PayNow, remove the profile in the app rather than assuming payments will stop automatically.
Comparative recap
Quick comparison table
| Item | Ease | Refund likelihood | Notes | Period |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PayNow profile removal (digibank mobile) | High | Not applicable for past payments | Immediate profile deletion stops future sends from that profile. | Immediate |
| EDP / EDP+ cancellation | Medium | Depends; only before cash out | Recipient can reject; otherwise branch indemnity needed before expiry. | Before cash out |
| Insurance policy cancellation | Medium | High within free look (refund less fees) | 14‑day free look from receipt of policy document. | 14 days |
| Cashier's order refund | Low - Medium | At bank discretion | Refunds may be reduced by costs/charges even on return/endorsement. | Varies |
How to interpret this recap
Use the table to choose the fastest route for cancellation and to understand when refunds are likely. For disputes, gather evidence and use the bank’s official channels for the best outcome.
After cancelling
What to monitor
- Check your account and card statements for the next 1 - 2 billing cycles to confirm no unexpected charges appear.
- If you cancelled a subscription, verify with the merchant that the subscription status shows as cancelled.
