Cancellation Zip: Easy Method
What is Zip
Overview
Zip was a buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) provider that let users split purchases into interest-free installments. It operated via mobile apps and web checkout integrations with merchants.
Status in Singapore
Zip ceased operations in Singapore in July 2022. As a result, normal account activity, new sign-ups and local in-app or web cancellations in Singapore are no longer applicable.
How to cancel Zip
If you are in Singapore
Because Zip shut down Singapore operations, user accounts in Singapore cannot be actively managed the same way they were before.
Cancellation via the app or web specifically for Singapore is not applicable; follow the merchant and support routes below instead.
General cancellation steps (app/web where available)
- Ensure all orders and outstanding balances are fully paid before requesting account closure.
- Open the Zip mobile app, go to the Account tab and select "Close my account" (deactivation is only possible once balances and orders are settled).
- If you cannot access the app or need assistance, contact Zip Support (see links in "After cancelling").
What happens when you cancel
Access and account status
After you close or deactivate a Zip account (where possible), you lose access to any Zip-specific dashboard features and payment management tools.
Data, orders and recurring charges
Closing an account does not cancel merchant orders. You must contact the retailer to cancel purchases; Zip processes refunds only after the merchant agrees.
Any outstanding fees or missed-payment charges must be settled before account closure is allowed in-app.
Will I get a refund?
Refund policy summary
Refunds for purchases made with Zip depend on the merchant's returns and refund process. There is no Zip-specific 14-day statutory cooling-off right applied through Zip in Singapore.
How refunds are applied and exceptions
- Refunds from returned goods are applied to your Zip account balance and will reduce what you owe or become a credit.
- Refunds do not include Zip‑charged fees such as monthly or late fees; those fees are not refunded.
- If you need the refunded amount paid out (cash-out), you must contact Zip Support to request that action.
Zip plans and pricing
Plan overview
The following pricing information reflects standard Zip BNPL usage and missed-payment fees.

| Late payment fee | S$10.00 + S$6.00 admin fee | Per missed payment | Charged when a scheduled installment is missed |
Your consumer rights in Singapore
Returns and statutory rights
There is no Zip-provided 14-day cooling-off right in Singapore; returns and refunds are governed by the merchant’s policies.
Dispute resolution and refunds
- If a dispute arises, first contact the retailer to request a refund or cancellation of the order.
- If you cannot resolve the issue with the merchant, you may contact Zip Support for assistance, though Zip no longer operates locally in Singapore.
- To withdraw refunded funds from your Zip account balance, you must request a payout via Zip Support.
Customer experiences
Positive feedback
Globally, Zip has high user ratings on public platforms (for example, Trustpilot and app stores), indicating a generally positive experience in many markets.
Reported problems
- Users have reported refunds being applied as credits to the wrong orders, creating delays and confusion.
- Some customers experienced purchases not registering or not receiving confirmations despite payment drafts.
Documentation checklist
What to prepare before contacting merchant or support
- Order number and merchant receipt (invoice or email confirmation).
- Proof of payment (bank statement or Zip transaction history screenshot).
- Copies of communications with the retailer (emails, chat logs).
Extra documents that can help
- Photos of returned goods or tracking numbers for returns.
- Any terms and conditions quoted by the merchant related to returns or refunds.
Common mistakes
Expecting Zip to cancel merchant orders
Many users incorrectly expect Zip to cancel orders for them. Zip does not cancel purchases; the merchant must accept the cancellation first.
Assuming a statutory cooling-off right via Zip
Believing there is a 14-day cooling-off or automatic refund through Zip in Singapore is a common mistake. Refunds depend on merchant policy.
Comparative recap
