Cancellation Oberlo: Easy Method
What is Oberlo
Short description
Oberlo was a dropshipping app that let merchants find products and import them into Shopify stores for order fulfilment.
The service aimed to automate product import, inventory syncing and parts of order processing to simplify running a dropshipping store.
Current status
Oberlo was officially sunset and discontinued in mid‑2022; core services were shut down on June 15, 2022.
After the sunset, remaining billing and migration options were processed through Oberlo/Shopify channels depending on how you were billed.
How to cancel Oberlo
Cancel via Shopify (web)
- Log in to your Shopify admin and go to Apps.
- Find Oberlo and choose uninstall/delete; when prompted, select a location to inherit its inventory if needed.
- Uninstalling the app removes it from your store; inventory inheritance must be chosen during deletion.
Cancel paid Oberlo subscription (Oberlo admin)
- Open your Oberlo admin, go to Account settings → Your Plan → Switch Plan.
- Select the free "Explorer" plan and choose Start; downgrading to Explorer triggers cancellation of paid billing and begins refund/credit processing if eligible.
- If you were billed via the Shopify App Store, refunds are handled as Shopify App Store credits instead of cash refunds.
Alternative: Close your Shopify store
- Closing the Shopify store (Settings → Plan & permissions → Sell or close → Close store) will also automatically cancel Oberlo for that store.
- Make sure you export any store data you need before closing; closure auto-cancels apps tied to the store.
What happens when you cancel
Access and functionality
Once Oberlo is uninstalled or the store closed, the app stops running and you lose Oberlo-specific features in that store.
Downgrading a paid plan to Explorer removes paid features while keeping a free-level access where applicable.
Data and inventory
During app uninstallation you are asked to select a location to inherit Oberlo-managed inventory; choose carefully to keep inventory records.
Always export product lists, orders and any needed reports before uninstalling; some app data may not be recoverable after deletion.
Will I get a refund?
Refunds by billing route
- If you were billed directly by Oberlo (direct Oberlo billing), canceling/downgrading to Explorer entitled you to a refund to your original payment method.
- If you were billed through the Shopify App Store, refunds were issued as Shopify App Store credits rather than cash refunds to your card.
Timing and exceptions
Refund eligibility depended on how and when you were billed and whether the service was already sunset; there was no universal 14‑day statutory refund published by Oberlo.
When Oberlo was sunset in mid‑2022, refunds or credits for unused subscription days were auto‑processed for affected customers.
Oberlo plans and pricing
Current pricing status
Oberlo was discontinued in 2022 and there is no current, active pricing to quote here.
Always verify current plans and prices on the official site or through your Shopify admin before subscribing.
Where to check prices
Check the official Oberlo/Shopify pages or your Shopify App listings for the authoritative billing information that applied when the app was active.
Do not rely on outdated third‑party estimates for current charges; official billing records in your account are the source of truth.
Your consumer rights in Singapore
General guidance for digital services
For digital subscriptions, consumer remedies depend primarily on the contract terms, the billing route (direct vendor vs platform billing), and whether the service was delivered as described.
Refunds for digital services are typically governed by provider terms and the payment channel used rather than an automatic statutory cooling‑off for every digital purchase.
Practical steps in Singapore
- Keep receipts, billing records and screenshots of cancellation requests as evidence.
- If billed by Shopify, contact Shopify Support about App Store credits; if billed directly by Oberlo, contact your payment provider and Oberlo support for refunds.
- If you believe you need formal help, consider contacting local consumer advice organisations (for example, CASE) for guidance on your options.
Customer experiences
Positive feedback
Many users praised Oberlo for its simplicity, easy product import and helpful automation for beginners running Shopify dropshipping stores.
Reviews cited that the app made listing and basic inventory management straightforward before the sunset.
Negative feedback and limitations
Users reported reduced functionality as the app was sunset, including fewer supplier options and slower or reduced support responsiveness.
Other complaints included occasional syncing glitches and difficulty importing full product data in some cases.
Documentation checklist
What to export before cancelling
- Product lists and SKUs (CSV export of products).
- Order history and customer records.
- Inventory levels and location assignments.
What to keep for refunds and disputes
- Billing invoices or receipts showing charges and billing route (Oberlo vs Shopify App Store).
- Confirmation of cancellation/downgrade and timestamps (screenshots or emails).
- Any correspondence with Oberlo or Shopify support regarding refunds or service discontinuation.
Common mistakes
Not exporting data first
A frequent mistake is uninstalling the app without exporting products, orders or inventory. Once the app is removed, some data may be lost or require manual recovery.
Always export all required reports before uninstalling or closing your store.
Confusing billing routes
Another common error is assuming refunds are handled the same regardless of billing route. Refunds via Shopify App Store were issued as store credits, while direct Oberlo billing refunds went back to the payment method.
Confirm which party billed you (Oberlo or Shopify) before requesting a refund to avoid delays.
Comparative recap
Quick comparison
| Action | Period | Refund likely | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uninstall Oberlo via Shopify admin | monthly | Depends on billing route; Shopify‑billed → App Store credit | Choose inventory inheritance during uninstall; app stops immediately. |
| Downgrade to Explorer in Oberlo admin | monthly | Direct Oberlo billing → refund to card possible | Triggers cancellation and refund processing for direct bills. |
| Close Shopify store | monthly / annual | App tied to store is cancelled; refunds depend on subscriptions and billing | Closing store auto‑cancels apps; export data before closing. |
After cancelling
Immediate actions
Export and securely store any exported product, order and customer data you need for future use or migration.
Check your payment method or Shopify billing history to confirm whether a refund or credit was issued.
